Absolute distance measurement by two-point-diffraction interferometry
Applied Optics, 2002We present a point-diffraction interferometer that has been specially devised to perform absolute distance measurements in three dimensions. It is composed of two main parts: One is a target that moves in three dimensions, and the other is a stationary two-dimensional array of photodetectors.

Absolute interferometric distance measurement using a FM-demodulation technique
Applied Optics, 1995We propose an interferometric method for measuring absolute distances larger than the wavelength. A laser diode is used as a light source. The principle of operation is based on multiple-wavelength interferometry that uses a modulated light source. This method uses the fact that the wavelength of light emitted by the laser diode can be varied by means ...

ABSOLUTE LASER INTERFEROMETRIC DISTANCE MEASUREMENT
Survey Review, 1993Abstract Absolute laser distance interferometry, as a means of precise linear measurement, may be used particularly, in geodetic metrology for establishing interference base-lines. The main principles of absolute interferometric distance measurement are described and different versions of the technique are reviewed.

Absolute distance measurements by CO_2 laser multiwavelength interferometry
Applied Optics, 1979This paper describes a CO(2) laser interferometer allowing absolute distance measurements using a set of CO(2) lines. The method relies on the so-called fractional fringe technique. First, we introduce some theoretical topics related to this application of CO(2) spectroscopy. The second part of the paper is a description of the instrument.

tm - Technisches Messen, 2003

Absolute Distance Measurements with Tunable Semiconductor Laser
Physica Scripta, 2005The work is oriented to development of an absolute distance interferometer with a narrow-linewidth tunable VCSEL laser (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) at 760 nm and a wavelength-scanning interferometry technique improved by an amplitude division of interference fringe [Xiaoli D et al, Meas. Absolute distance measurement with the MSTAR sensor
SPIE Proceedings, 2003The MSTAR sensor (Modulation Sideband Technology for Absolute Ranging) is a new system for measuring absolute distance, capable of resolving the integer cycle ambiguity of standard interferometers, and making it possible to measure distance with sub-nanometer accuracy.

Absolute distance measurement applying spectrally-resolved interferometry
SPIE Proceedings, 2011A scheme is proposed for high-precision, absolute distance measurement for a theoretical arbitrary optical distance. The approach utilizes a frequency stabilized Ti:sapphirez femtosecond pulse laser to provide a phase-locked summation of discrete quasi-monochromatic light modes of consecutive frequencies, which is seen as an optical comb in the ...

Unusual techniques for absolute distance measurement
Optical Engineering, 2001I describe four unusual laser systems for absolute measures of linear distance. All employ the familiar techniques of multiple wave- lengths, chirped wavelength, optical feedback and intensity modulation, but in somewhat unfamiliar architectures. These examples serve to illus- trate the breadth of solutions to this important problem.

Absolute distance measurement using comb-spectrum interferometry
Journal of Optics, 1998A measurement technique is proposed based on dispersive interferometry using a comb-spectrum source: dispersive comb-spectrum interferometry (DCSI). The configuration proposed processes the Michelson interferometer output by a dispersive grating in the Littrow configuration.
