Absolute distance measurement with an optical feedback interferometer

Applied Optics, 1998
An important use of the self-mixing effect inside a frequency-modulated single-mode laser diode is in laser velocimetry and range-finding applications. The optical beam reflected by a target and injected into the laser diode cavity modulated by a reshaped current is mixed with the light inside the cavity, causing variations of the optical output power.

Absolute distance measurement by two-point-diffraction interferometry

Applied Optics, 2002
We present a point-diffraction interferometer that has been specially devised to perform absolute distance measurements in three dimensions. It is composed of two main parts: One is a target that moves in three dimensions, and the other is a stationary two-dimensional array of photodetectors.

Multi-Channel Absolute Distance Measurement Based on Optical Carrier-Based Microwave Scanning Interferometry

Journal of Lightwave Technology
Cost-efficient multi-objective synchronous ranging solutions are highly desired in many fields such as manufacturing and infrastructure. However, traditional laser ranging methods have limitations in absolute ranging and multi-channel expansion.

Absolute interferometric distance measurement using a FM-demodulation technique

Applied Optics, 1995
We propose an interferometric method for measuring absolute distances larger than the wavelength. A laser diode is used as a light source. The principle of operation is based on multiple-wavelength interferometry that uses a modulated light source. This method uses the fact that the wavelength of light emitted by the laser diode can be varied by means ...

Dual-comb interchanging absolute distance measurement with non-ambiguity range extension

Applied Physics Letters
We demonstrate a rapid and high-precision dual-comb ranging method with a significantly extended non-ambiguity range (NAR). By reasonably setting the polarization combining and splitting of two optical combs, we can obtain two sets of interferograms of ...

ABSOLUTE LASER INTERFEROMETRIC DISTANCE MEASUREMENT

Survey Review, 1993
Abstract Absolute laser distance interferometry, as a means of precise linear measurement, may be used particularly, in geodetic metrology for establishing interference base-lines. The main principles of absolute interferometric distance measurement are described and different versions of the technique are reviewed.

Absolute distance measurements by CO_2 laser multiwavelength interferometry

Applied Optics, 1979
This paper describes a CO(2) laser interferometer allowing absolute distance measurements using a set of CO(2) lines. The method relies on the so-called fractional fringe technique. First, we introduce some theoretical topics related to this application of CO(2) spectroscopy. The second part of the paper is a description of the instrument.

Absolut messendes Diodenlaserinterferometer (Diode Laser Interferometer for Absolute Distance Measurement)

tm - Technisches Messen, 2003

Absolute Distance Measurements with Tunable Semiconductor Laser

Physica Scripta, 2005
The work is oriented to development of an absolute distance interferometer with a narrow-linewidth tunable VCSEL laser (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) at 760 nm and a wavelength-scanning interferometry technique improved by an amplitude division of interference fringe [Xiaoli D et al, Meas. Absolute distance measurement with the MSTAR sensor

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
The MSTAR sensor (Modulation Sideband Technology for Absolute Ranging) is a new system for measuring absolute distance, capable of resolving the integer cycle ambiguity of standard interferometers, and making it possible to measure distance with sub-nanometer accuracy.
