PMU‐Based Wide Area Monitoring With Machine Learning to Prevent Blackouts in Bangladesh Power System

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A Unified Real‐time Dynamic State Measurements (URTDSM) system with PMU and Phasor Data Concentrator (PDC) deployment plan has been proposed to avoid blackout in the Bangladeshi power system. Machine learning has been used to process data from PMU to identify abnormal events. ABSTRACT The electrical power system must be trustworthy and secure enough to

Edge‐Based Discretizations on Triangulations in Any Dimension, With Special Attention to Four‐Dimensional Space

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, EarlyView.
This article provides important geometric formulas for node‐centered, edge‐based schemes in any number of dimensions. These formulas are noteworthy, as they do not require the explicit formation of dual regions. We prove several key geometric results, with a particular focus on the four‐dimensional case, due to potential space‐time applications ...

Anatomical Understanding and Evolution of Surgical Treatment for Cancer of the Esophagogastric Junction: From Anatomical Controversies to Precision Surgery

open access: yesGut Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The incidence of cancer of the esophagogastric junction (EGJC) has surged globally. Historically, its unique anatomical position and dual histological characteristics generated significant controversy regarding tumor classification and surgical strategies.

Application of Non‐Isothermal Network Theory With Curved‐Channel Element Characteristics to Predict Melt Conveying in High‐Performance Single‐Screw Extruders

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a fast and accurate calculation tool to predict conveying of polymer melts in single‐screw extruders. Integrating generalized sub‐models into network theory allows to represent the complex screw shapes and material behavior more realistically. Tests on an industrial extruder show close agreement with experiments, outperforming older

Climate‐Driven Mangrove Dieback and Recovery: A Case Study in Albert and Leichhardt Rivers, Australia

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Cycles of dieback and recovery drove mangrove forest dynamics at the Albert and Leichhardt Rivers (Gulf of Carpentaria, Queensland, Australia) over 36 years (1987–2023). Landward margins were the most affected by reduced tidal inundation when the alignment of low lunar declination suppressed tidal range and extreme El Niño phases lowered mean sea level.

Reverse engineering strut‐and‐tie models for assessing reinforced concrete structures

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Strut‐and‐tie models enable the design of reinforced concrete structures with static or geometrical discontinuities, providing interpretability and control over the load path. These models are valuable for designing discontinuity regions of new structures and for validating nonlinear finite‐element analysis results. However, developing a strut‐
