Chapter 3 analyzes Schmitt’s state theory. It begins with Schmitt’s criticism of “the mechanical state,” a conception of the state that he associated with positivism. Schmitt denied that the state was only machine-like and that it should merely execute whatever commands were fed into it.

Reference states for absolute half-cell potentials
Physical Review Letters, 1987Reasons for disagreement regarding reference states for half-cell potentials are discussed. It is suggested that the electron at rest at \ensuremath{\infty} is the best choice, and the only one that agrees with common physics practice. This reference state is the same as that just outside the electrolyte for large electrolytes.

Toward Absolute Density of States Calculations for Proteins
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2006The density of states (DOS), which gives the number of conformations with a particular energy E, is a prerequisite in computing most thermodynamic quantities and in elucidating important biological processes such as the mechanism of protein folding. However, current methods for computing DOS of large systems such as proteins generally yield only the ...

Absolutely maximally entangled states from phase states
International Journal of Quantum Information, 2019We derive absolutely maximally entangled (AME) states from phase states for a multi-qudit system whose dynamics is governed by a two-qudit interaction Hamiltonian of Heisenberg type. AME states are characterized by being maximally entangled for all bipartitions of the multi-qudit system and present absolute multipartite entanglement.

It remains to consider that part of the Politics that deals with “the best regime.” The matter is complicated in several respects. For one thing, Aristotle suggests that it might be necessary to distinguish between what is best absolutely and what is an attainable best (cf. IV. xi 1295 a25–33; also II. vi 1265 a19–20, VII. iv 1325 b37ff.).

Temperature dependence of absolute fluid-state parameters
Cryogenics, 1987Abstract The temperature dependence of the vapour and liquid volumes, v v and v 1 , respectively, of a saturated fluid, 0 v l ⩽ v c ⩽ v v , d v v /d T v l /d T , and the empirical relation between the volume ratio, v v / v l , and the evaporation energy, u v - u l , namely ln( v v / v l ) ≈ ( u v − u l /( RT ), are used

Absolute signs of hyperpolarizabilities in the liquid state
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1974We discuss several techniques for the determination of the absolute sign of molecular hyperpolarizabilities in the liquid state. One of these techniques is the comparison of the phase of the harmonic field produced by the liquid with that generated by the glass walls of the electroded cell.

Absolute dimensions and evolutionary state of RS Vulpeculae
Space Science Reviews, 1989RS Vul (HD 180939, VMax =7.0, B5V+G1III) is a semi-detached eclipsing binary with a period of 4.4776635 days. High signal-to-noise (S/N ≃ 100) spectra have been obtained with the 1.2m telescope and coudé Reticon spectrograph of the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory.

Congo: From state collapseto ‘absolutism’, to state failure
Third World Quarterly, 2006Abstract The present-day Democratic Republic of Congo is regarded as a paradigmatic case of state failure. This was not always so. During the 1960s and 1970s arch-dictator Mobutu Sese Seko was regarded as a fairly successful state builder. From the time that he seized power outright in 1965 he welded together a huge and diverse territory that had been ...

Absolute State and Patrimonial Administration
2004AbstractState formation to be an essential part of the capitalist revolution and of the modernization process that begins with the Renaissance and the commercial revolution. Its completion, which happened with the industrial revolution, required definite and regulated markets, which were brought by the absolute state. Hypothetically, the absolute state
