Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Reducing Railway Track Vibrations by Applying Particle-Damping Systems

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The wheel–rail contact is an intrinsic characteristic of rail transport. This contact is one of the main reasons why rails are so efficient for transportation, mainly due to the very low friction coefficient between them and the wheels.

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Graphene-clad microfibre saturable absorber for ultrafast fibre lasers

open access: yes, 2016
Graphene, whose absorbance is approximately independent of wavelength, allows broadband light-matter interactions with ultrafast responses. The interband optical absorption of graphene can be saturated readily under strong excitation, thereby enabling ...

Sb2S3 grown by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis and its application in a hybrid solar cell

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2016
Chemical spray pyrolysis (CSP) is a fast wet-chemical deposition method in which an aerosol is guided by carrier gas onto a hot substrate where the decomposition of the precursor chemicals occurs. The aerosol is produced using an ultrasonic oscillator in

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Closed Time and Absorber Theory

open access: yes, 1973
In the closed time model universe recently proposed by Davies1 as an explanation of the 3 K black body radiation, the arrow of time points forward in the first cycle AB and backward in the second cycle BC, where point C is identified with point A, as ...

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Multi-Band Metamaterial Absorber: Design, Experiment and Physical Interpretation

open access: yes, 2014
This paper presents the design, fabrication, characterization and experimental verification of a perfect Multi-Band Metamaterial (MTM) absorber (MA) based on a simple configuration of a rectangular resonator and strips operating in microwave frequency ...
