A Measured Rasorber with Two Absorptive Bands [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2017
In this paper, a novel rasorber with both Frequency Selective Surface and absorptive periodical structure is developed. This rasorber works as a radome and an absorber. Firstly, the design procedure of the unit cell of this rasorber is explained.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Dy2+:CaF2 Saturable-absorber Q switch for the Ruby Laser

open access: yes, 2012
[[abstract]]Passive Q switching of a flash-lamp-pumped ruby laser has been demonstrated with a Dy2+:CaF2 saturable absorber at room temperature. Typically a single Q-switched pulse of 4.5 mJ and 94 ns was observed.

Holistic Acoustic Absorber Design: from modelling and simulation to laboratory testing and practical realization. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Mathematical models for many acoustic absorbing methods have previously been developed, however there is very little accessible data describing how those models perform in a practical implementation of the design.

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

W-Band Ultra-Thin Broadband Metamaterial Absorber—Design and Applications

open access: yesPhotonics
This paper presents a flexible and broadband metamaterial absorber (MA) with a sandwich structure for W-band absorption. The MA uses a thin FR4 material as the dielectric layer and incorporates multiple patches of varying sizes as the top pattern layer ...

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

SOLAR TROUGH MIRROR SHAPE SPECIFICATIONS

open access: yes, 2009
The performance of concentrating solar collectors depends to a significant amount on the shape accuracy of the mirrors reflecting the sunlight onto the absorber.

Improvement of multiband absorption with different technics (graphene, ito, and hole) for metamaterial absorber at optical frequencies

open access: yes, 2018
Three absorption improvement techniques are numerically applied to a multiband metamaterial absorber design for solar energy harvesting. These techniques are the following: the reshaping of the back metallic plate, the integrating of graphene sheets, and
