The simulation of wave propagation, such as soliton propagation, based on the Rosenau-KdV-RLW equation on unbounded domains requires a bounded computational domain. Therefore, a special boundary treatment, such as an absorbing boundary condition (ABC) or

Absorbing boundary conditions for granular acoustics
The boundary conditions of soft-sphere DEM are usually perfect reflectors of acoustic waves, leading to an unrealistic accumulation of energy. This situation is usually dealt with by global damping. In some situations, this solution is undesirable, so we present an alternative. If the grain-wall contact is made soft and dissipative, most acoustic energy

Objective Frailty occurs prematurely in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and is associated with poor health outcomes. We compared the performance of four frailty instruments, including a pragmatic alternative measure using chair sit‐to‐stand (STS), and evaluated their abilities to predict poor health outcomes.

Algebraic Discrete Nonlocal (DNL) Absorbing Boundary Condition for the Ship Wave Resistance Problem [PDF]
An absorbing boundary condition for the ship wave resistance problem is presented. In contrast to the Dawson-like methods, it avoids the use of numerical viscosities in the discretization, so that a centered scheme can be used for the free surface ...

Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Absorbing Boundary Conditions for the Schrödinger Equation
. A large number of differential equation problems which admit traveling waves are usually defined in very large or infinite domains. To be able to numerically solve these problems in smaller subdomains of the original domain, artificial boundary ...

In this work a Finite-Difference Frequency-Domain (FDFD) propagation method for complex urban environments is proposed. The formulation starts from the discretization of the Helmholtz equation for the magnetic field instead of the usual separate one ...

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.
