Donsker-Varadhan asymptotics for degenerate jump Markov processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We consider a class of continuous time Markov chains on a compact metric space that admit an invariant measure strictly positive on open sets together with absorbing states. We prove the joint large deviation principle for the empirical measure and flow.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Site-bond representation and self-duality for totalistic probabilistic cellular automata

open access: yes, 2005
We study the one-dimensional two-state totalistic probabilistic cellular automata (TPCA) having an absorbing state with long-range interactions, which can be considered as a natural extension of the Domany-Kinzel model.

Evaluation of Potential Residual Silica as Antireflective Layer for Selective Solar Surface of Black Chromium [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2019
Selective surfaces have the function of absorbing strongly the sunlight, while ideally losing little heat to the environment via convection and radiation.

Independent and monochromatic absorbent sets in infinite digraphs

open access: yesAKCE International Journal of Graphs and Combinatorics, 2015
AbstractLet D be a digraph, we say that it is an m-coloured digraph if the arcs of D are coloured with at most m-colours. An (u,v) arc is symmetrical if (v,u) is also an arc of D. A directed path (resp. directed cycle) is monochromatic if all of its arcs are coloured with the same colour, and it is quasi-monochromatic if at most one of its arcs is ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Experimental demonstration of an analytic method for image reconstruction in optical tomography with large data sets

open access: yes, 2005
We report the first experimental test of an analytic image reconstruction algorithm for optical tomography with large data sets. Using a continuous-wave optical tomography system with 10^8 source-detector pairs, we demonstrate the reconstruction of an ...

On the sets of boundedness of solutions to degenerate fouth-order equations with strengtheningly monotone principal parts, absortion and L^1-data

open access: yesLe Matematiche, 2007
We consider the Dirichlet problem for a class of degenerate nonlinear elliptic fourth-order equations with strengtheningly monotone principal parts, absorbing lower-order terms and L1-right-hand sides.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
