Dose‐dependent hepatotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide in HepG2 cells and its modulation by CYP450 induction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

Identifying and characterising a plant GH1 β‐glucosidase that exhibits hydrolytic activity on N‐linked glucopyranoside

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We report the first β‐glucosidase with demonstrated hydrolytic activity on an N‐linked glycopyranoside. The enzyme, native to maize, was biochemically characterised for this novel reaction, and structural modelling of the enzyme–substrate complex revealed several clues to the underlying reduced catalytic rate relative to its native O‐glycopyranoside ...

ANALYSIS ABSORPTION CAPACITY OF EUROPEAN FUNDS UNDER THE OPERATIONAL PROGRAMME HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the University of Petrosani: Economics, 2013
One of the main goals of the European Union is the economic progress. In the last 50 years, and especially beginning with the ‘80s, remarkable efforts have been made for removing the borders between the EU national economies and for creating a unique ...

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Cohesion Fund 2007‑2013. An analysis of implementation and results in Romania

open access: yesSfera Politicii, 2018
Cohesion policy represents an important resource for the social and economic recovery of the member states. Through the Cohesion Fund absorption analysis during 2007-2013 financial period in Romania, I evaluate the efficiency with which the allocated ...

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

Identification and characterization of a gene conferring stress resistance in Escherichia coli and cyanobacteria

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Functional screening identified PcSyn14890, a cyanobacteria‐specific protein that enhances growth and stress resistance in E. coli and Synechocystis PCC6803. Although we expected it to function as a molecular chaperone, it was unable to protect against thermal aggregation of GAPDH.

Selective elimination of quiescent cancer cells by dequalinium chloride via ROS‐mediated ferroptosis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Dequalinium chloride (DQ) selectively eliminates quiescent cancer cells (QCCs) by amplifying mitochondrial ROS. QCCs exhibit elevated basal ROS and limited redox‐buffering capacity, making them vulnerable to further ROS increases. DQ‐induced ROS exceeds the tolerance threshold, triggering lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis, whereas proliferating cells ...

Regional disparities, absorption capacity and Structural Fund payments: A case study of the Czech Republic

open access: yesQuaestiones Geographicae, 2017
The intention of this paper is to provide empirical evidence on how the factors of socio-economic disadvantage and absorption capacity influence the spatial distribution of Structural Fund (SF) payments among the Czech Republic’s micro-regions during the

Ultrafast visual detection of Streptococcus suis via HtpsC‐targeted LAMP–CRISPR–Cas12a coupled with lateral flow immunochromatography

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A rapid visual test combines DNA amplification, CRISPR–based target verification, and a lateral flow strip to detect Streptococcus suis. The assay gives results in about 45 min, reduces false‐positive interpretation, and does not require fluorescence equipment.
