Absorptive capacity: a proposed operationalization

Knowledge Management Research & Practice, 2011
The concept of absorptive capacity has already been considerably studied from a theoretical perspective, but few, if any, attempts at operationalizing the concept have been studied in ways that would allow its full assessment. The more specific focus provided by the four dimensions identified in some recent literature – acquisition, assimilation ...

Absorptive Capacity

Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics, 2009
I investigate how the introduction of the absorptive-capacity hypothesis changes the results of strategic investment games with exogenous spillover. As a novelty, this paper distinguishes between two different components of R+amp;D: absorptive R+amp;D and inventive R+amp;D.

Spillovers, Absorptive Capacity and Agglomeration

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2010
I study knowledge spillovers in an industry where firms are mobile and heterogeneous in their ability to adopt outside knowledge (absorptive capacity). I develop a static model of industry agglomeration where, in equilibrium, the force of attraction induced by spillovers is counteracted by the force of repulsion created by local competition.

ABSORPTIVE CAPACITY OF THE NOSE

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1944
This study concerns the absorptive ability of the respiratory portion of the mucous membrane of the nose as it applies to nasal medication and immunization. As there is a paucity of experimental data on this subject, my deductions will be based on clinical observations as appraised in the light of the new concepts of physiology.
