Reconfigurable Lattice Agreement and Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Reconfiguration is one of the central mechanisms in distributed systems. Due to failures and connectivity disruptions, the very set of service replicas (or servers) and their roles in the computation may have to be reconfigured over time.

Pan-cancer evaluation of gene expression and somatic alteration data for cancer prognosis prediction

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2021
Background Over the past decades, approaches for diagnosing and treating cancer have seen significant improvement. However, the variability of patient and tumor characteristics has limited progress on methods for prognosis prediction.

C9orf72 ALS‐causing mutations lead to mislocalization and aggregation of nucleoporin Nup107 into stress granules

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutations in the C9orf72 gene represent the most common genetic cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a fatal neurodegenerative disease. Using patient‐derived neurons and C. elegans models, we find that the nucleoporin Nup107 is dysregulated in C9orf72‐associated ALS. Conversely, reducing Nup107 levels mitigates disease‐related changes.

A wide-spectrum language for verification of programs on weak memory models

open access: yes, 2018
Modern processors deploy a variety of weak memory models, which for efficiency reasons may (appear to) execute instructions in an order different to that specified by the program text. The consequences of instruction reordering can be complex and subtle,

Practical Theory Extension in Event-B [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
. The Rodin tool for Event-B supports formal modelling and proof using a mathematical language that is based on predicate logic and set theory. Although Rodin has in-built support for a rich set of operators and proof rules, for some application areas ...

A high spatial resolution dataset of China’s biomass resource potential

open access: yesScientific Data, 2023
Assessing biomass resource potential is essential for China’s ambitious goals of carbon neutrality, rural revitalization, and poverty eradication. To fill the data gap of high spatial resolution biomass resources in China, this study estimates the ...

From lactation to malignancy: A comparison between healthy and cancerous breast gland at single‐cell resolution reveals new issues for tumorigenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing reveals an opposite role of SLPI in basal tumors based on metastatic spread, along with shared activation of specific regulons in cancer cells and mature luminal lactocytes, as well as downregulation of MALAT1 and NEAT1 in the latter.

Comparing self‐reported race and genetic ancestry for identifying potential differentially methylated sites in endometrial cancer: insights from African ancestry proportions using machine learning models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Integrating ancestry, differential methylation analysis, and machine learning, we identified robust epigenetic signature genes (ESGs) and Core‐ESGs in Black and White women with endometrial cancer. Core‐ESGs (namely APOBEC1 and PLEKHG5) methylation levels were significantly associated with survival, with tumors from high African ancestry (THA) showing ...
