Urinary extracellular vesicle miRNA signature reflects pancreatic islet stress in type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Urinary ECV miRNAs show a distinct dysregulation signature in T2D with strong diagnostic performance. This signature mirrors molecular changes across pancreatic islets, blood, liver, and adipose tissue, with the strongest concordance in islets, linking it to β‐cell stress. Overall, they represent a non‐invasive, mechanistically informative biomarker of

Biology and assessment of the painted sweetlips (Diagramma pictum (Thunberg, 1792)) and the spangled emperor (Lethrinus nebulosus (Forsskål, 1775)) in the southern Arabian Gulf [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The population biology and status of the painted sweeplips (Diagramma pictum) and spangled emperor (Lethrinus nebulosus) in the southern Arabian Gulf were established by using a combination of size-frequency, biological, and size-at-age data.

Religion Affects Whether US Women Marry Early, Without Cohabiting or Having a Nonmarital Birth First

open access: yesJournal for the Scientific Study of Religion, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In recent US cohorts, premarital sex is ubiquitous, and cohabitation typically precedes marriage. Yet many religions discourage premarital sex, which implies disapproval of cohabitation or premarital birth. Using a discrete‐time event history, we assess how religious denomination, frequency of religious service attendance, and a rich set of ...

Endogenous Institution Formation for Public Good Provision

open access: yesThe Manchester School, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We revisit an existing framework of endogenous institution formation for public good provision, incorporating heterogeneous players to address the question, “Who joins an institution that sanctions only its members to provide a public good?” We analyze two models with different sources of heterogeneity.

New knowledge about shock events that affected the L‐chondrite parent body from two heavily shocked L6 meteorite finds

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract We report new results from a study of shock‐related features in the L6 ordinary chondrites Northwest Africa (NWA) 4672 and NWA 12841. Our observations confirm the occurrence of eight high‐pressure (HP) minerals in each meteorite, namely, ringwoodite, majorite, akimotoite, wadsleyite, albitic jadeite, lingunite, tuite, and xieite.

Confirming the impact origin of the São Miguel do Tapuio structure, northeastern Brazil

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract The São Miguel do Tapuio structure (SMT) is a remarkable, nearcircular feature of about 21 km diameter, centered at 5°37.6′ S, 41°23.3′ W in Piauí state, northeastern Brazil. The structure is located within the sedimentary strata of the Paleozoic–Mesozoic Parnaíba Basin and predominantly comprises sandstones of the Devonian Pimenteiras and ...

From Palestine Ally to Zionist Partner: India‐Israel Relations, 2014–2025

open access: yesMiddle East Policy, EarlyView.
Abstract India's pro‐Palestinian diplomatic posture, which held for nearly 70 years, has been transformed within a single decade of rule by the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), turning New Delhi into one of Israel's most consequential Asian partners. This shift has narrowed the coalition supporting the Palestinian cause.

Apoptosis kinetics of purified and PBMC‐associated lymphocytes after photopheresis‐like 8‐methoxypsolaren/UVA treatment

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) induces apoptosis in circulating immune cells, but its kinetics vary slightly depending on the cell type. We compared the progression of apoptosis in PBMCs versus highly purified T cells exposed to 8‐methoxypsoralen and ultraviolet A.
