Rigidity of abutments in integral abutment bridges
Structure and Infrastructure Engineering, 2011In this article, we present the results from a numerical and an experimental analysis of the Scotch Road integral abutment bridge located in Trenton, New Jersey. A three-dimensional, non-linear finite element (FE) model of the bridge has been developed to study the effect of thermal loading on pile–soil interaction.

Abstract— The use of preformed metallic anchorages inserted in satisfactorily treated teeth for increased stabilization and retention in complete and partial dentures is demonstrated. An additional advantage is the retention of proprioceptive guidance in mastication with complete dentures. A number of clinical examples are illustrated.

Ulnocarpal abutment presents a significant clinical challenge. In the last two decades, the anatomy of the ulnar side of the wrist and the pathophysiology of ulnocarpal abutment have been defined more clearly. Based on this greater understanding, a variety of treatments have been devised.

The abutment consideration is but one step in the fabrication of a stable base appliance. This step, however, is a vitally important one. If carried out poorly, the casting can be lost and the tooth and periodontal tissues severely damaged or destroyed. All the steps considered in the fabrication of a case are like links of a chain.

Abutment stress in overdentures
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1978Abstract Using a three-dimensional photoelastic model, the relative merits of five overdenture retainers were compared. The soft liner system produced the highest stress concentrations. The retainer systems with intimate contact between the denture base and the abutment tooth showed similar stress concentrations.

Influence of Abutment Fabrication Method on 3D Fit at the Implant-Abutment Connection
The International Journal of Prosthodontics, 2020To three-dimensionally evaluate the internal fit at the implant-abutment interface of abutments fabricated with different workflows using a combination of the silicone replica technique and microcomputed tomography (μCT).Thirty abutments were fabricated to restore internal-connection implants and were divided into three groups according to fabrication ...

A screwdriver for ITI abutments
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2001VOLUME 86 NUMBER 3 The options of screw-retained or cemented restorations are available for ITI implants.1,2 After abutment preparation, the clinician may need to remove the abutments to replace them or transfer them to the impression with a Straumann torque device or hemostat.

Inter‐abutment and peri‐abutment mucosal enlargement with mandibular implant overdentures
Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2001Abstract: A variety of terms have been used to describe changes in the oral mucosa around abutments underneath fixed and removable implant prostheses such as mucosal inflammation, peri‐implant mucosal hyperplasia, gingival hyperplasia, hyperplastic tissue, mucosal proliferation, proliferative gingivitis and peri‐implant mucositis.

Abutment screw withdrawal after conical abutment settlement: A pilot study
Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2019AbstractObjectiveThis study investigated the effects of abutment screw withdrawal after conical abutment settlement on the stability of the implant–abutment connection.Materials and methodsTwenty implants of a conical connection system were used. Two two‐piece abutment designs were used: cone only (n = 10; NI) and cone plus octagonal index design (n ...
