A novel AC-DC Converter un-requiring inductors for power conversion

2008 Twenty-Third Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2008
A new ac-dc converter is proposed and its experimental results are also presented. This AC- DC converter does not require any inductor and any high voltage capacitor in input rectification. It also shows very low stand-by power consumption compared to conventional switching mode power supply (SMPS) ac-dc converters while it reveals a drawback in ...

High power factor three phase rectifier for high power density AC/DC conversion applications

APEC '99. Fourteenth Annual Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition. 1999 Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.99CH36285), 1999
The conventional three-phase rectifier with bulky LC output filter has been widely used in the industry because of its distinctive advantages over the active power factor correction rectifier such as simple circuit, high reliability and low cost. Over 0.9 power factor can be achieved, which is acceptable in most industry applications.

Discontinuous mode sparse Dyna-C rectifier for efficient AC/DC power conversion

2015 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2015
The paper investigates a soft-switching buck-boost AC/DC converter. The proposed converter uses 4 active switches and overcomes the various shortcomings of conventional rectifiers. The proposed controller facilitates discontinuous mode of operation that leads to zero current turn on and turn off.

Suitable Single-Phase to Three-Phase AC–DC–AC Power Conversion System

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2015
This paper presents a single-phase to three-phase power conversion system with parallel rectifier and series inverter to cope with single-phase to three-phase asymmetry. Such converter guarantees both reduction in the input current processed by rectifier circuit and reduction of the output voltage processed by the inverter circuit.

High-Efficiency Soft-Switching AC–DC Converter With Single-Power-Conversion Method

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2017
This paper presents a high-efficiency isolated ac–dc converter topology. The proposed converter consists of a full-bridge diode rectifier, an isolated resonant dc–dc converter, and only one controller. The proposed converter provides the soft-switching technique for all components operating at high frequency, allowing for an improvement in power ...

An AC/DC power conversion based on Series-connected Universal Link converter

2010 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2010
This paper presents a novel AC/DC power converter topology for the future energy conversion network. The proposed Series-connected Universal Link (SUL) converter transfers the power via the high frequency transformers and single phase full bridge converters.

Highly Efficient Bridgeless Dual-Mode Resonant Single Power-Conversion AC–DC Converter

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2019
This paper presents a bridgeless dual-mode single power-conversion ac–dc converter that can achieve a high conversion efficiency. By adopting a bidirectional switch, we remove a full-bridge diode rectifier from the grid side of the proposed converter, and thereby, reduce the number of components and the primary-side conduction loss.

Suitable single-phase to three-phase AC-DC-AC power conversion system

2012 Twenty-Seventh Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2012
This paper presents a single-phase to three-phase power conversion system with parallel rectifier and series inverter to cope with single-phase to three-phase asymmetry. Such converter guarantees both reduction in the input current processed by rectifier circuit and reduction of the output voltage processed by inverter circuit.

Twelve-pulse back-to-back AC/DC conversion for reactive-power control

IEE Proceedings C Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1982
As an alternative to existing thyristor-controlled compensators, the paper proposes the use of static AC/DC power convertors for the control of reactive power. A double-bridge convertor scheme, with the two bridges operating back-to-back, is used to investigate the optimal operating conditions with respect to fundamental power and harmonic distortion ...
