A new approach to model AC/DC/AC conversion systems

2001 Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37262), 2001
A new approach for modeling AC/DC/AC power conversion systems is presented and discussed. It is based on the modulation function theory and utilizes the concept of the iterative harmonic analysis (IHA), taking advantage of a two-step procedure in which two different models are utilized.

Evaluation of harmonics and interharmonics produced by AC/DC/AC conversion systems

2004 11th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power (IEEE Cat. No.04EX951), 2005
A new model of line commutated AC/DC/AC conversion systems is presented and discussed. It is based on the inclusion of the modulation function approach inside the iterative harmonic and interharmonic analysis algorithm. The new model allows to perform the evaluation of waveform distortion taking into account comprehensive representations of both ...

Transformer modeling suitable for DC/AC and AC/DC conversion chains

2014 IEEE 11th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices (SSD14), 2014
The aim of this work is to compute a transformer model capable of reproducing some real aspects and phenomena specifically in DC/AC and AC/DC power conversion applications. This issue is incited by the increasing presence of power converters in modern networks leading to more harmonics and loss.

FPGA based variable frequency AC to AC power conversion

Electric Power Systems Research, 2012
Abstract AC/AC variable frequency power conversion system is proposed which makes use of a cycloconverter in newer form, ac–ac matrix converter. An attempt has been made to operate this matrix converter both in conventional low frequency ac–ac converter, cycloconverter and new high frequency ac–ac converter, cycloinverter.

Energy Efficiency Improvement in AC/DC/AC Diode-Clamped Multilevel Conversion Systems

2008 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion, 2008
An analysis of the efficiency of AC/DC/AC diode-clamped multilevel converters is presented, where commanded and suitable variations of the DC-link voltages are proposed in order to decrease the energy losses. The study is carried out also aiming at the correct DC-link capacitor voltage balance, obtained with additional chopper stages together with a ...

Control of M2C direct converter for AC to AC conversion with wide frequency range

2016 18th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE'16 ECCE Europe), 2016
Modular Multi-level converters are the most discussed topic in the field of HVDC for AC to DC conversions. In this paper it is shown that modular multi-level converters with series connected H-bridges have the capability to convert 3-phase AC to single phase AC.

Indirect matrix converter with unity voltage transfer ratio for AC to AC power conversion

Electric Power Systems Research, 2013
Abstract Having a voltage transfer ratio lower than unity with a 0.866 upper limit, even lower than 0.866 in the course of experiments because of parasitic components of real power circuits, is one of the shortcomings of matrix converters. This deficiency is one of the greatest impediments to industry adaptation of matrix converters. To surmount this

Soft-switched matrix converter for high frequency direct AC-to-AC power conversion

International Journal of Electronics, 1992
Abstract A soft-switched matrix converter is proposed using the zero voltage switching technique in some resonant pole inverters. A high operating frequency with safe and efficient switching improves the dynamic and spectral performances and simplifies the protection logics and snubber networks.
