AC Drive Observability Analysis
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2013AC induction motors and permanent magnet synchronous drives became very popular for motion control applications due to their simple and reliable construction. Sensorless drive control is required in many applications to reduce drive production costs. While many approaches to magnetic flux, rotor speed, or other quantities needed to control electrical ...

Controlled AC Electrical Drives
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2008The use of AC electrical machines in controlled electrical drive applications is reviewed. The major types of electrical machines are briefly summarized to set the context and establish the physical basis for the control techniques used. Machine properties, which are the key to successful control, can be obscured by the necessary mathematics required ...

ABSTRACT Until now direct-current motors fed by thyristor rectifiers have dominated as variable-speed drive systems for oil-drilling applications. During drilling of a test well at Rogaland Research Center in Stavanger, Norway, a new drilling system "The Power Swivel" was tested and the conventional DC motor/SCR system was

High power AC drives based on stacking of standard low power AC drives
2008 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2008Adjustable speed drives (ASDs) are used in industry, among others, in pumps, compressors, and fans. Standard low power ASDs are based on a rectifier, a voltage DC link, and an inverter. The selection of an ASD depends upon the voltage and power rating of the load.

Advanced Techniques in Commercial AC Drives
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1992Abstract AC drive is now widely applied in commercial adjustable speed drives as a completely established system. Due to the inherent advantages of ac drive, now it not only invades the territory of dc drive, but also creates many new applications which have hitherto never been considered.
