Dapagliflozin prevents methylglyoxal‐induced retinal cell death in ARPE‐19 cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Diabetic macular oedema is a diabetes complication of the eye, which may lead to permanent blindness. ARPE‐19 are human retinal cells used to study retinal diseases and potential therapeutics. Methylglyoxal is a compound increased in uncontrolled diabetes due to elevated blood glucose.

The effects of financial incentives on diabetes prevention program attendance and weight loss among low-income patients: the We Can Prevent Diabetes cluster-randomized controlled trial

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2020
Background Penetration and participation of real life implementation of lifestyle change programs to prevent type 2 diabetes has been challenging. This is particularly so among low income individuals in the United States.

Hysteretic ac loss of polygonally arranged superconducting strips carrying ac transport current

open access: yes, 2007
The hysteretic ac loss of a current-carrying conductor in which multiple superconducting strips are polygonally arranged around a cylindrical former is theoretically investigated as a model of superconducting cables.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Effects of a novel peptide Ac-SDKP in radiation-induced coronary endothelial damage and resting myocardial blood flow

open access: yesCardio-Oncology, 2018
Background Cancer survivors treated with thoracic ionizing radiation are at higher risk of premature death due to myocardial ischemia. No therapy is currently available to prevent or mitigate these effects.

Soil corrosion of the AISI1020 steel buried near electrical power transmission line towers [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2014
Soil corrosion of carbon steel samples buried up to hundred days close to a high voltage power transmission line tower was examined by weight loss vs. time. A higher weight loss was observed if the samples were electrically connected to the tower than if

Antiresonant quantum transport in ac driven molecular nanojunctions

open access: yes, 2018
(Dated: July 17, 2017) We calculate the electric charge current flowing through a vibrating molecular nanojunction, which is driven by an ac voltage, in its regime of nonlinear oscillations.

Paramagnetic Rim Lesions Are Associated With Trans‐Synaptic Degeneration of the Visual Pathway in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Retrograde trans‐synaptic degeneration (rTSD) from posterior visual pathway lesions in multiple sclerosis (MS) is characterized by hemi‐macular ganglion cell‐inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) thinning and contralateral visual field loss.

AC loss calculation in self-field of NI-HTS coil carrying different transport currents [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hebei University of Science and Technology
To solve the problems of the AC loss in self-field for no-insulation (NI) HTS coils carrying different currents, such as AC transport current, the current scanning inverse in order to decrease the screening current, and so on, by using the T ...
