Affordance of vibrational excitation for music composition and performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Mechanical vibrations have typically been used in the performance domain within feedback systems to inform musicians of system states or as communication channels between performers.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Assessing the impact of three‐phase rewinding of a failed single‐phase motor on efficiency improvement and energy saving

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, 2023
Induction motors, particularly single‐phase induction motors (SPIMs), represent the major consumption of power in the household sector. SPIMs that fail during their life cycle represent the best opportunity to improve their efficiency by replacing or ...

AC losses in type-II superconductors induced by nonuniform fluctuations of external magnetic field

open access: yes, 2003
Magnetic field fluctuations are inevitable in practical applications of superconductors and it is often necessary to estimate the AC losses these fluctuations induce.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Fault‐Tolerant Control of a High‐Reliability Six‐Phase Axial Flux Switching Permanent Magnet Machine

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications
In this study, a novel six‐phase axial flux switching permanent magnet machine (AFFSSPM‐TS) with a twisted structure is explored to enhance fault tolerance and overall system reliability.

Power factor control system for ac induction motors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
A power control circuit for an induction motor is disclosed in which a servo loop is used to control power input by controlling the power factor of motor operation.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

The Improved Quadrant Switching MCP–PID Electric Machine Speed Smooth Transition Algorithm for Forklift Lifting Hydraulic Drive

open access: yesIET Power Electronics
As electric forklifts advance, the electric machine‐pump/motor control system is key to their lifting system due to high efficiency. Traditional systems struggle with quadrant switching in permanent magnet synchronous machines and pump coupling, causing ...

Impact of the Convolutional Neural Network Structure and Training Parameters on the Effectiveness of the Diagnostic Systems of Modern AC Motor Drives

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Currently, AC motors are a key element of industrial and commercial drive systems. During normal operation, the machines may become damaged, which may pose a threat to the users.
