A Testis‐Specific Aralkylamine N‐Acetyltransferase Regulates Dimorphic Sperm Function and Male Fertility in Moths

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identify a Lepidoptera‐conserved testis‐specific arylalkylamine N‐acetyltransferase (LTNAT) that governs male moth fertility via a novel mechanism. LTNAT loss disrupts eupyrene sperm mitochondrial derivatives and impairs apyrene sperm motility, offering a safe molecular target for innovative pesticides and genetic pest control.

Predicting Academic Success in Undergraduates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
College academic success and retention have traditionally been predicted using demographic and academic variables. This study investigated the influence of student health on GPA and intent to drop out of college.

Visualization of Endosomal Escape of Intracellularly Delivered Protein With Unexpected Photochemical Internalization of Trypan Blue

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TB, a conventional cell viability dye, acts as both a fluorescence modulator (quenching GFP fluorescence upon protein binding and recovering it upon release) and a photosensitizer that triggers endosomal escape via photochemical internalization (PCI) under 590 nm light.

From ZZZ\u27s to A\u27s: How Your Sleep Cycle Affects How You Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Studying and sleeping are two essential parts of succeeding in an academic setting. The expression “the early bird gets the worm” suggests that people who wake up early garner more success in life. But why?

Perspective: Hollow Core Optical Fibres for Ultraviolet and Visible Wavelengths

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hollow core optical fibres bypass material constraints that limit optical fibres at ultraviolet and visible wavelengths. However, their challenging fabrication has limited their development, and significant gains in performance remain possible. In this perspective we outline approaches to enable the next generation of fibres for shorter wavelengths ...

ATTENTION AND SCHOOL SUCCESS: The Long-Term Implications of Attention for School Success among Low-Income Children [PDF]

open access: yes
This study examined the longitudinal associations between sustained attention in preschool and children’s school success in later elementary school within a low-income sample (N = 2,403). Specifically, two facets of sustained attention (focused attention

Design of Safe and Efficient Adenine Base Editors via Protein Language Model Screening for Osteoarthritis Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Base editors enable precise genome modification and have emerged as a promising therapeutic approach for correcting diseases caused by single‐nucleotide variants. While the current efficient version of adenine base editors (ABEs), such as ABE8e, exhibits exceptional efficiency for A‐to‐G conversions, their clinical translation is hindered by ...

Ecological Adaptation Mechanisms Underlying Successful Plant Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During floral induction, various environmental and endogenous signals converge to regulate the florigen protein, which is transported from leaves to the SAM to initiate flowering. Within the SAM, a complex network of receptor kinases and small peptides orchestrates floral development with high spatiotemporal precision.

Teachers’ Anxiety-relieving Techniques for Academic Success

open access: yesCihan University-Erbil Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences
Although it is fairly obvious that student stress and anxiety have a negative impact on students’ academic performance, the role that teachers can play in easing these difficulties is frequently overlooked.
