2001This paper deals with the performances and the results obtained for large astrophysical problems (macro-program codes) implemented to the library of the computational system of the Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy. These problems concern: stellar structure and evolution, stellar pulsation and seismology, N-body simulations.

1998Our description of the Mathematical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR will be rather formal. We describe the development of an institution which had very few scientific collaborators at its foundation in 1946, while the number of collaborators in 1990 had grown to almost 200.
