Hydrogen Halide Gas Sensors: Active Materials, Operation Principles, and Emerging Technologies

This review considers hydrogen halide (HX) gas sensors across functional materials and principles: acoustic, chemical, optical and nanophotonic. The strong acidity and reactivity of HX gases are discussed as constraints for stability and selectivity of these devices.

What's New? The 1986 Chernobyl accident led to widespread radioactive contamination across parts of Europe, with elevated childhood leukaemia rates observed in heavily affected areas of Ukraine. Data on long‐term haematological and other non‐thyroid cancer risk in the general population in heavily contaminated regions, however, remain limited.

ABSTRACT This study investigates earnings management in European banks in the context of the 2016 EU audit directive. Using a dynamic panel of 134 banks over 2012–2023, we apply two‐step System‐GMM estimators with three profitability measures—Earnings Before Provisions and Taxes (EBPT), Return on Assets (ROA), and Return on Equity (ROE).
