The ultrastructure of the caecal epithelium of the intraredial cercaria of Neophasis lageniformis (Lebour, 1910) (Trematoda, Acanthocolpidae)

The intestinal caeca of the intraredial cercaria of Neophasis lageniformis differ in several aspects from previous descriptions of the intestinal caeca of other digenetic trematodes. The caeca are lined with a single-layered, non-syncytial epithelium with lamellate projections into the lumen.

A New Species of Stephanostomum (Trematoda, Acanthocolpidae) from Marine Fishes of the Northern Gulf of Mexico

While examining fish for a study of the geographic distribution of digenetic trematodes in marine fish of the Gulf of Mexico, numerous examples of an undescribed species of Stephanostomum have been recovered by the senior author from several species, mostly of the family Sciaenidae, from the Louisiana and Texas coasts.

The occurrence and pathological effects of Stephanostomum tenue (Digenea: Acanthocolpidae) metacercariae in elvers of the American eel

This is the first record of the American eel, Anguilla rostrata, as an intermediate host of Stephanostomum tenue. Metacercariae occurred most frequently in the pericardial cavity of elvers where they often produce severe distention of the thoracic region and impeded swimming.

Stephanostomum kovalevae Parukhin, 1968 from the intestine of Lophius vomerinus off Swakopmund, Namibia, is redescribed. It is characterised by its large number (c. 73-88) of circum-oral spines, its relatively very long hindbody and the vitellarium reaching close to or just overlapping the ventral sucker.
