On the reduction of flux creep in superconducting accelerator magnets

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1991
The authors have performed intensive studies on flux creep in high-T/sub c/ superconductors and on M transition curves inside the hysteresis area and were able to reduce dM/d ln t at a given B by an order of magnitude by appropriate previous magnetic field cycling. The reduction can be explained by the critical state model.

Fitting Creep-Rupture Life Distribution Using Accelerated Life Testing Data

Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology, 2000
This paper comments on using the Larson-Miller parameter to fit the creep-rupture life distribution as a function of temperature and stress. The commonly used least-squares linear regression method assumes that the creep-rupture life follows the lognormal distribution. Most engineering literature does not discuss the validity of this assumption.

Accelerated containerless creep tests of refractory metals

In the nuclear, military, and aerospace industries, enhancing output and increasing the creep resistance of alloys and metals against high temperatures are critical for ensuring stability and reliability and increasing the thermodynamic efficiency of energy conversion systems.

Accelerated Creep Test for New Steels and Welds

2017
Conventional “constant-load” creep tests of new steels for thermal power generation and chemical processing are very long lasting, thus delay application of new steels for years. Same problem appears with creep tests on heat-affected zones in welded joints of these steels, as welding procedure influences their properties.

Study of Scribe Type on Accelerated Underfilm Corrosion Creep

SSPC 2011, 2011
Abstract The creepage of corrosion underneath a coatings film applied to a steel test panel is often used as a performance test for the anti-corrosion properties of a coating system. Creepage is defined as the degree of corrosion (usually measured in mm) emanating away from a scribe line underneath a coating film applied to a steel ...

Assessment of remaining creep life using accelerated stress-rupture tests

Metals Technology, 1976
Abstract The use of accelerated stress-rupture tests to determine the remaining creep life of precrept 1Cr–O·5Mo steel has been examined. It was not possible to relate the results of increased-stress tests to remaining creep life successfully, but satisfactory correlations were achieved when acceleration was performed by raising the test temperature ...

The force on an accelerating body in axisymmetric creeping flow

Zeitschrift für angewandte Mathematik und Physik ZAMP, 1972
A general and easily applied expression is derived for the force on an accelerating body in an axisymmetric slow viscous flow. This expression is valid for any axisymmetric body, irrespective of the conditions at the surface.

Accelerated Measurement of the Long-Term Creep Behaviour of Plastics

2017
Plastic parts are increasingly used in engineering applications with high demands on long-term mechanical behaviour. Therefore, suitable accelerated test methods are strongly required. The Stepped Isothermal Method (SIM), a short-term creep experiment during which the temperature is elevated stepwise, was originally developed for product testing of ...
