Extracellular Vesicles of Streptococcus anginosus Mediate Gastritis via Epithelial Barrier Disruption and Macrophage‐driven Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Streptococcus anginosus extracellular vesicles (SA‐EVs) accumulate in gastric tissue, disrupt epithelial tight junctions, and induce gastritis characterized by neutrophil infiltration and elevated cytokines (TNF‐α, IL‐6, IL‐17A). Proteomics identifies TMPC and FBP62 as key SA‐EVs virulence factors; their genetic deletion attenuates inflammation ...

Statistical Inference for the Modified Fréchet-Lomax Exponential Distribution Under Constant-Stress PALT with Progressive First-Failure Censoring

open access: yesMathematics
Life testing of products often requires extended observation periods. To shorten the duration of these tests, products can be subjected to more extreme conditions than those encountered in normal use; an approach known as accelerated life testing (ALT ...

Anti‐Apoptotic and Neurite‐Protective Nanomedicine Augments Embryonic Stem Cells‐Derived Retinal Ganglion Cell Transplantation in Glaucoma Recovery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lithium‐epigallocatechin gallate nanoparticles (Li‐EGCG NPs) are co‐transplanted with embryonic stem cell‐derived retinal ganglion cells (ESC‐RGCs) to enhance cell survival and therapeutic efficacy in an acute pathological glaucomatous injury model. This synergistic approach protects RGC cells, preserves retinal structure and improves visual function ...

Engineered GM1 Intersects Between Mitochondrial and Synaptic Pathways to Ameliorate ALS Pathology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neurodegenerative disease driven by genetic and molecular disruptions affecting energy balance, protein homeostasis, and stress responses in nerve cells. Studies using human and rodent models identified convergent defects in mitochondria and synaptic function.

Ufmylation‐Deficient DDRGK1 Ameliorates Obesity by Inhibiting FASN‐Mediated Adipocyte Lipogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DDRGK1 regulates de novo lipogenesis via stabilization of fatty acid synthase (FASN). DDRGK1‐mediated UFMylation of FASN prevents its ubiquitin–proteasomal degradation. Reduced DDRGK1 expression or mutation at the key UFMylation site enhances FASN degradation and suppresses fatty acid synthesis (FAS), resulting in smaller adipocytes and improved ...

Summary report for a hydrogen sensor workshop: Hydrogen safety sensors and their use in applications with hydrogen as an alternative fuel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
On May 10, 2017, a Hydrogen Sensor Workshop was held in Brussels, Belgium. The workshop was jointly organised by the sensor test laboratories at the Joint Research Centre (Petten, Netherlands) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (Golden ...

Phase Separation of NFIB Suppresses SLC3A2‐Mediated Ferroptosis in Castration‐Resistant Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Castration‐resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) remains sensitive to ferroptosis, but its intrinsic resistance is poorly understood. Here, we identify NFIB as a master suppressor. SIRT7‐mediated NFIB acetylation drives its liquid–liquid phase separation, which promotes SLC3A2 transcription to inhibit ferroptosis.
