On the Rayleigh-Taylor unstable dynamics of three-dimensional interfacial coherent structures with time-dependent acceleration

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
Rayleigh-Taylor instability (RTI) occurs in a range of natural and industrial processes. Whereas the majority of existing studies have considered constant acceleration, RTI is in many instances driven by variable acceleration. Here we focus on RTI driven

Sharp exponent of acceleration in general non-local equations with a weak Allee effect

open access: yesAnnales de la Faculté des sciences de Toulouse : Mathématiques
We study an acceleration phenomenon arising in monostable integro-differential equations with a weak Allee effect. Previous works have shown its occurrence and have given correct upper bounds on the rate of expansion in some particular cases, but precise lower bounds were still missing.

First passage time exponent for higher-order random walks:Using Levy flights

open access: yes, 2001
We present a heuristic derivation of the first passage time exponent for the integral of a random walk [Y. G. Sinai, Theor. Math. Phys. {\bf 90}, 219 (1992)].

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

An Adaptively Accelerated Lucy-Richardson Method for Image Deblurring

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2008
We present an adaptively accelerated Lucy-Richardson (AALR) method for the restoration of an image from its blurred and noisy version. The conventional Lucy-Richardson (LR) method is nonlinear and therefore its convergence is very slow.

Modelling of optical emissions enhanced by the HF pumping of the ionospheric F-region [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2012
Strong enhancement of the optical emissions with excitation threshold from 1.96 eV (630.0 nm from O(1D)) up to 18.75 eV (427.8 nm from N2+(1NG)) have been observed during experiments of the ionosphere modification by high power HF radio waves ...

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Thermodynamically consistent entropic late-time cosmological acceleration

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2022
Entropic-force cosmology provides, in contrast with dark energy descriptions, a concrete physical understanding of the accelerated expansion of the universe.

Apparent mass of small children: Modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Mass-spring-damper models are widely available for quantifying the whole-body vibration characteristics of primates, human adolescents and human adults, but no models have previously been developed for small children.

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...
