We apply ex situ and in situ scanning transmission X‐ray microscopy to reveal the structural degradation of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell catalyst layers due to conditioning and thermal heating of the catalyst coated membrane. We observe a redistribution of the ionomer and carbon‐black in the catalyst layer, as well as nanoscale membrane ...

Chemical short‐range order (CSRO) plays a central role in governing the behavior of multi‐principal element alloys. This perspective critically assesses computational and experimental approaches for quantifying, characterizing, and validating CSRO, emphasizing modeling–experiment cross‐validation pathways that enable more reliable interpretation of ...

Design and simulation of low energy beam transport line for accelerator neutron source
The impact of cancer is becoming increasingly severe. Regarding cancer treatment methods, the concept of boron neutron capture therapy has been proposed based on nuclear reactions. Based on different neutron sources, a boron neutron capture therapy using

Our work bridges the gap between skyrmion discovery and material design by demonstrating how atomic‐scale control of exchange interactions enables tunable skyrmion phase transitions in centrosymmetric magnetic metals. ABSTRACT Magnetic skyrmions are topologically protected spin states that hold promise for shaping the future of electronics.

ABSTRACT Magnetic 2‐dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) materials have garnered tremendous attention. The vdW ferromagnet Fe5Ge1Te2 has a Curie temperature Tc of ≈ 270 K, which is tailorable by tuning the stoichiometry and the Fe deficiency to reach room temperature.

Shielding analyses of an AB-BNCT facility using Monte Carlo simulations and simplified methods
Accurate Monte Carlo simulations and simplified methods were used to investigate the shielding requirements of a hypothetical accelerator-based boron neutron capture therapy (AB-BNCT) facility that included an accelerator room and a patient treatment ...

Accelerator-based cold neutron sources and their cooling system.
We have developed and installed two accelerator-based cold neutron sources within a electron linac at Hokkaido University and a proton synchrotoron at National Laboratory for High Energy Physics. Solid methane at 20K was adopted as the cold moderator.
