Improved plasma accelerator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Converging, coaxial accelerator electrode configuration operates in vacuum as plasma gun. Plasma forms by periodic injections of high pressure gas that is ionized by electrical discharges.

Fixed field alternating gradient

open access: yes, 2013
The concept of a fixed field alternating gradient (FFAG) accelerator was invented in the 1950s. Although many studies were carried out up to the late 1960s, there has been relatively little progress until recently, when it received widespread attention ...

FPGA-based conformance testing and system prototyping of an MPEG-4 SA-DCT hardware accelerator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Two FPGA implementations of a shape adaptive discrete cosine transform (SA-DCT) accelerator are presented in this paper: one PCI-based and the other AMBA-based. The former is used for conformance testing with the MPEG-4 standard requirements.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Demand MemCpy: Overlapping of Computation and Data Transfer for Heterogeneous Computing

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Heterogeneous computing relies on collaboration among different types of processors on shared data. In systems with discrete accelerators (e.g., GP-GPU), data sharing requires transferring a large amount of data between CPU and accelerator memories and ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Survey of FPGA based recurrent neural network accelerator

open access: yes网络与信息安全学报, 2019
Recurrent neural network(RNN) has been used wildly used in machine learning field in recent years, especially in dealing with sequential learning tasks compared with other neural network like CNN.However,RNN and its variants, such as LSTM,GRU and other ...

Controls and Interfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Reliable powering of accelerator magnets requires reliable power converters and controls, able to meet the powering specifications in the long term. In this paper, some of the issues that will challenge a power converter controls engineer are discussed ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
