The Principles of Circular Accelerators and Storage Rings
1993This book is a basic introduction to the principles of circular particle accelerators and storage rings, for scientists, engineers and mathematicians. Particle accelerators used to be the exclusive province of physicists exploring the structure of the most fundamental constituents of matter. Nowadays, particle accelerators have also found uses as tools

Cryring - A Small Storage and Acceleration Ring for Heavy Ions
IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1985from a 400 kV accelerator * Injectors for negative (hydrogen) ions and electrons [intended for cooling as well as experiments) are included in the project. Regarding the extraction of accelerated heavy ions for nuclear and atomic sFectroscopy, it should be emphasized that the project aims at very heavy ions (Xe-L') which will be energetic enough 10 ...

Heavy ion accelerators and storage rings for pellet fusion reactors
Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1978Abstract Heavy ion accelerators and storage rings in the multi-GeV energy regime can be utilized for inertial-confinement fusion. A discussion is presented of design parameters for some systems, based on existing accelerator technology, capable of delivering beams of order 100 terawatt to a pellet of a few millimeters in diameter.

The Radiation Environment of Electron Accelerators and Storage Rings
IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1976The most important products from a safety point of view due to interactions of high energy electron beams with matter are discussed. Topics discussed include: (1) production and transport of electromagnetic radiation; (2) production and transport of neutrons; (3) production of muons; (4) radiation fields outside shielding; and (5) storage rings. Dynamic aperture calculations for circular accelerators and storage rings
AIP Conference Proceedings, 1987It is the author’s hope that this document will help provide the novice with both an understanding of what dynamic aperture is and some insight as to why it is limited. In addition, we hope that this paper will provide information as to the analytical and numerical methods available for the study of dynamic aperture.

Fabrication, test and first operation of superconducting accelerator modules for storage rings
Proceedings of the 2003 Bipolar/BiCMOS Circuits and Technology Meeting (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37440), 2004The production of 6 superconducting 500 MHz modules for Cornell University, the Taiwan Light Source and the Canadian Light Source is almost finished. We summarize the vertical cavity test results and report on cold module tests. Operational experience with the delivered modules is also presented.

The efficiency of charge-exchange injection in proton accelerators and storage rings
Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1976Abstract We have determined the optimum parameters of charge-exchange targets, serving to transform a beam of high-energy hydrogen negative ions into that of protons. The angular distributions have been calculated for protons that multiply passed through the target. The beam intensity attenuation due to multiple scattering of protons in the target has

Panel Discussion : Minimizing Energy Consumption of Accelerators and Storage Ring Facilities
1980The discussion of energy usage falls naturally into three parts. The first is a review of what the problem is, the second is a description of steps that can be taken to conserve energy at existing facilities, and the third is a review of the implications of energy consumption on future facilities.

Bypass Module for Shunting of the Electromagnets for Accelerators and Storage Ring
Siberian Journal of Physics, 2009The bypass module was developed for correction of magnetic field in the bending magnet gap through partially taking current away from the coil. The SHUNT-20 bypass module that is presented in this work is able to take a current of up to 20A away from the coil of electromagnet.

Planar permanent magnet multipoles for particle accelerator and storage ring applications
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1994In prior work a planar permanent magnet (PM) configuration for generating an approximate quadrupole field distribution in the vicinity of its symmetry axis was disclosed. In the present paper extensions of the method are considered for generating sextupole and higher order multipole fields.
