Road pricing from a geographical perspective: a literature review and implications for research into accessibility [PDF]

open access: yes
Road pricing policies have been a subject of research for many decades. Even though until now examples of actual implication in the real world are limited, many different road-pricing measures have been considered, both in literature as well as in the ...

Linked dimers of the AAA+ ATPase Msp1 reveal energetic demands and mechanistic plasticity for substrate extraction from lipid bilayers

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells must clear mislocalized or faulty proteins from membranes to survive. The AAA+ ATPase Msp1 performs this task, but dissecting how its six subunits work together is challenging. We engineered linked dimers with varied numbers of functional subunits to reveal how Msp1 subunits cooperate and use energy to extract proteins from the lipid bilayer ...

The accessibility rank of weak equivalences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We study the accessibility properties of trivial cofibrations and weak equivalences in a combinatorial model category and prove an estimate for the accessibility rank of weak equivalences.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Efficient Machine Learning Models for Solar Radiation Prediction Using Ensemble Techniques: A Case Study in Low-Rainfall Arid Climates

open access: yesIEEE Access
Solar energy is a green energy source that can be used to generate electricity, making it one of the oldest existing renewable energy sources. However, solar energy values are not always available in many areas far from urban cities, due to the high cost

On accessibility of groups

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 1983
The class of accessible groups is defined to be the smallest class of groups containing all groups with \(\leq 1\) end and being closed with respect to forming fundamental groups of finite graphs of groups with finite edge groups. The main result of this paper is Theorem 1.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

CCT4 promotes tunneling nanotube formation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Tunneling nanotubes (TNTs) are membranous tunnel‐like structures that transport molecules and organelles between cells. They vary in thickness, and thick nanotubes often contain microtubules in addition to actin fibers. We found that cells expressing monomeric CCT4 generate many thick TNTs with tubulin.
