Schwannoma in an accessory branch of the posterior cord of the brachial plexus: a rare case report

open access: yesFolia Morphologica, 2022
BACKGROUND: Variation in the posterior cord of the brachial plexus is complicated and creates a risky relationship with the neighbouring structures. This is of importance to the surgeons and anaesthetists who must deal with the region in surgeries and ...

A CASE OF CARCINOMA OF ACCESSORY BREAST TISSUE SUSPECTED TO BE LYMPHOADENITIS

open access: yesNihon Rinsho Geka Gakkai Zasshi (Journal of Japan Surgical Association), 2000
A rare case of carcinoma of accessory breast tissue is reported, which was suspected to be lymphoadenitis. A 44-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of a painful mass in the left axillary region. Physical examination revealed a mass 1.5cm in diameter, movable and with tenderness.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Carcinoma of accessory breast: an incidental finding

open access: yesInternational Surgery Journal
Accessory breast carcinoma (ABT) is a rare disease, it accounts for less than 1% of breast cancers. ABT is often under diagnosed, therefore, it should be considered for all lumps presenting along the milk line (from axilla to groin). Reported cases show the most common area for accessory breast cancer to be the axilla.
