All‐Dielectric Metasurface‐Based Gap Waveguides

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Dielectric metasurface‐based waveguides (metawavegides) offer several advantages over conventional waveguides, making them ideal for integrated photonics. A design of a metawaveguide composed of a pair of dielectric metasurfaces is proposed, where each metasurface behaves as a wall of either a perfect electric conductor or a perfect magnetic conductor,

A Bayesian Hierarchical Model for Evaluating Forensic Footwear Evidence [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
When a latent shoeprint is discovered at a crime scene, forensic analysts inspect it for distinctive patterns of wear such as scratches and holes (known as accidentals) on the source shoe's sole. If its accidentals correspond to those of a suspect's shoe, the print can be used as forensic evidence to place the suspect at the crime scene.

The characterization and evaluation of accidental explosions [PDF]

open access: yes
Accidental explosions are discussed from a number of viewpoints. First, all accidental explosions, intentional explosions and natural explosions are characterized by type.

Intelligent Eye Tracker Integrated with Cylindrical Capacitive Sensors for Chronic Fatigue Assessment

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
A wearable capacitive eye tracker for chronic fatigue assessment is presented, utilizing cylindrically shaped capacitive sensors made of a carbon nanotube‐paper composite. By integrating a novel fatigue‐induction protocol with machine learning, the device achieves 0.75‐sensitivity and 0.73‐specificity, providing a practical alternative to existing ...

Unveiling the Capacity Boosting Mechanism of the MoS2 Electrode by Focusing on the Under Potential Deposition in All‐Solid‐State Batteries Prepared by One‐Pot One‐Step Liquid Phase Mixing

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
MoS2 electrodes with high dispersion for solid‐state rechargeable batteries is successfully fabricated by using one‐pot one‐step liquid‐phase mixing methods, which realize exfoliating MoS2, synthesizing solid electrolytes, and compositing with conductive agents in a single step. And underpotentially deposited lithium metal is observed onto the metallic

Genetics‐Based Targeting Strategies for Precise Neuromodulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this Review, the fundamental principles and implementation protocols of genetics‐based precision neuromodulation are first introduced. Then, wireless and low‐invasive strategies based on nano‐transducing materials are highlighted, along with a dissection and analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of representative studies.
