Haematological acclimation and re-acclimation to hypoxia in the mouse
Respiratory Physiology & Neurobiology, 2013Haematological responses throughout 4 w of initial acclimation (IA) and three paradigms of re-acclimation (RA) to hypoxia (FI(O₂)) were examined in female mice. We hypothesised that (i) haematological responses would be increased during re-exposure, resulting in greater O₂-carrying capacity in RA compared to IA; and (ii) further improvements would ...

Acclimation Environment Control After Grafting - A New Acclimation Method -
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1996Abstract The production system for grafted seedlings consists of mainly three parts. One is the growing process, another one is the grafting process, and the last one is the acclimation process. The acclimation process is very important for grafted seedlings because they are seriously injured.

Ergonomics, 1994
Heat stress reduces the capability for sustained exercise. On the other hand, with repeated exposures to hot environments, exhaustion is delayed. This paper examines the hypothesis that high core temperature might be the ultimate cause of the fatigue and inability to continue to exercise in hot dry environmental conditions.

Temperature sensing and cold acclimation
Current Opinion in Plant Biology, 2001The fundamental question in cold acclimation is how do plants perceive the low but nonfreezing temperatures that activate cold acclimation responses. New findings in the past year suggest that changes in membrane fluidity, cytoskeleton rearrangement, and calcium influxes are among the earliest events taking place in plants upon exposure to low ...

Abstract A wonderful opportunity to illustrate the rich complexity of biological responses to natural environments arises when a difference is encountered between acclimation to a single stressor in an environment and overall acclimatization. This biological complexity can be conceptualized in a scientifically useful way. The key concept
