Accumulative roll bonding (ARB) and Cross accumulative roll bonding (CARB) in aluminum: A review

Materials Science and Technology
Severe plastic deformation of metals has been employed to achieve significant grain refinement and consequent strengthening of materials. Prominent techniques in this domain are Accumulative Roll Bonding (ARB) and Cross Accumulative Roll Bonding (CARB), which is a variation of the ARB process.

Computational evaluation of the homogeneity of composites processed by accumulative roll bonding (ARB)

2018
A new computational method based on MATLAB was used to study the effect of different parameters on the homogeneity of composites produced by a severe plastic deformation technique known as accumulative roll bonding. For a higher number of passes, the degree of particle agglomeration and clustering decreased, and an appreciable homogeneity was obtained ...

Microstructure, mechanical properties and electrochemical behavior of AA1050 processed by accumulative roll bonding (ARB)

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2016
Abstract In this work, the effect of ARB process on the microstructure, mechanical properties and electrochemical behavior of AA1050 was investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images were used for measuring the crystallite and grain sizes of samples.

Review on Accumulative Roll Bonding (ARB) Techniques for Improving the Mechanical Properties of Multi-Layered Materials

Materials Science Forum, 2020
Accumulative Roll Bonding (ARB) is one among the techniques in Severe Plastic Deformation (SPD) which is used to produce ultrafine grains and nanocrystalline structure in the materials used. Tensile test, micro hardness test, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and bending tests are the various tests carried out ...

Electrochemical and Passive Behaviors of Pure Copper Fabricated by Accumulative Roll-Bonding (ARB) Process

Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2015
In the present work, electrochemical and passive behaviors of pure copper fabricated by accumulative roll-bonding (ARB) process in 0.01 M borax solution (pH = 9.1) have been studied. Before any electrochemical measurements, evaluation of microstructure was obtained by Vickers microhardness, x-ray diffraction (XRD), and transmission electron microscopy.

Fabrication of Al-TiAl3 Composite Via In-Situ Accumulative Roll Bonding (ARB) and Annealing

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2018
In this study, titanium particles (with an average size of 48 µm) are dispersed throughout Al foils using the accumulative roll bonding method. The reaction between the particles and the matrix is subsequently activated thermally by post-rolling annealing.

Electron back scattered diffraction (EBSD) characterization of warm rolled and accumulative roll bonding (ARB) processed ferrite

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2009
Abstract An interstitial free (IF) steel was severely deformed using accumulative roll bonding (ARB) process and warm rolling. The maximum equivalent strains for ARB and warm rolling were 4.8 and 4.0, respectively. The microstructure and micro-texture were studied using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy equipped with electron back ...

Texture evolution during ARB (Accumulative Roll Bonding) processing of Ti–10Zr–5Nb–5Ta alloy

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2013
Abstract Titanium alloys are extensively used in a variety of applications due to their good mechanical properties, high biocompatibility and corrosion resistance. In the last decade, α-type Ti alloys containing Zr, Nb and Ta have received much attention, because they exhibit not only high strength but also bio-corrosion resistance and high ...

Fabrication and Refinement of 6061(p)/6063 Aluminum Laminate by Accumulative Roll-Bonding (ARB) Process

Materials Science Forum, 2000
A 6061 aluminum powder compact is fabricated by sheath rolling method using 6063 aluminum tube as a sheath. Accumulative Roll-Bonding (ARB) process is applied to the powder compact for improvement of its mechanical properties. The ARB process of 8 cycles is performed at ambient temperature under unlubricated conditions without removing the 6063 sheath.
