Optimising Image Processing Systems to Accurately Count Colony Forming Units

Proceedings of European Meeting on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 1996
Historically, the rate of experimentation involving micro biological procedures is slow due to, for example, the incubation and analysis of samples. Recently, a number of optical and image processing techniques have been developed to analyse samples to improve accuracy by removing human error and speed up the data acquisition process.

The value of accurate Program Information Forms

AirMed, 2002
Air Medical Journal 21:2 An important part of the accreditation process is completing the Program Information Form (PIF), which can be mailed on disc or E-mailed to the applicant. The PIF corresponds exactly to the current accreditation standards in effect so that each question is numbered the same as the standard referenced.

Short forms of the Postpartum Depression Screening Scale: as accurate as the original form

Archives of Women's Mental Health, 2012
The aims of the present study were to develop three shorter forms of the Portuguese version of the Postpartum Depression Screening Scale (PDSS) as adapted and translated in Portugal, to analyse their psychometrics and to determine their cut-off points and associated conditional probabilities to screen for perinatal depression according to DSM-IV and ...

Accurate closed‐form approximation for pricing Asian and basket options

Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, 2008
AbstractBy approximating the distribution of the sum of correlated lognormals with some log‐extended‐skew‐normal distribution, we present closed‐form approximation formulae for pricing both Asian and basket options. Numerical comparison shows that our formulae provide both computational simplicity and accuracy.

An automatic processing technique for accurate surface form measurement

Optik, 2012
Abstract A single shot algorithm using a Fizeau interferometer was used to measure the form profile of a spherical smooth surface by means of fringe thinning process, which plays an important role in fringe patterns analysis. In this paper, an automatic processing technique based on the fringe thinning process is presented.

An accurate closed-form estimate of ICP's covariance

Proceedings 2007 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2007
Existing methods for estimating the covariance of the ICP (iterative closest/corresponding point) algorithm are either inaccurate or are computationally too expensive to be used online. This paper proposes a new method, based on the analysis of the error function being minimized.

Accurate B-spline Free-Form Deformation of Polygonal Objects

Journal of Graphics Tools, 1998
Free-form deformation is an important geometric shape modification method in computer animation and geometric modeling. We explore it by means of functional composition via shifting operators. Our method takes a polygonal model as input but yields a curved model described by triangular Bezier patches as output.

Efficient and accurate simulation of the packaging forming process

Packaging Technology and Science, 2018
To allow for large‐scale forming applications, such as converting paperboard into package containers, efficient and reliable numerical tools are needed. In finite element simulations of thin structures, elements including structural features are required to reduce the computational cost.
