A scoping review of specialist hypertension clinics

open access: yesInternal Medicine Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Hypertension is an important preventable risk factor for cardiovascular and kidney disease, with limited data regarding the impact on blood pressure (BP) control following management in specialist hypertension clinics globally. Aims To summarise current literature on BP outcomes in SHCs and identify gaps in evidence.

Associations of finerenone with reduced insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease: A real‐world observational study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
This real‐world observational study enrolled 256 patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease (T2D‐CKD). After 12 months of finerenone treatment, 45 patients completed follow‐up. Finerenone was associated with significant improvements in insulin resistance markers (HOMA‐IR, TyG index), lipid profile (LDL‐C), glycemic control (HbA1c), and ...

Developing a machine learning model to predict renal function decline within three years using one‐year longitudinal data in patients with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
We developed a machine learning model to predict renal function decline in patients with type 2 diabetes and preserved kidney function. Using one year of routine clinical data, the model forecasts eGFR decline over three years, enabling early identification of high‐risk patients and supporting timely, targeted therapeutic interventions.

Intensified multifactorial intervention leads to long‐term benefit on kidney outcomes in advanced diabetic kidney disease: A 10‐year follow‐up of the DNETT‐Japan trial

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Despite recent therapeutic advances in slowing kidney disease progression, the long‐term efficacy of intensive multifactorial treatment in advanced‐stage diabetic kidney disease remains unclear. We assessed long‐term kidney outcomes through the 5‐year Diabetic Nephropathy Remission and Regression Team Trial in Japan (DNETT‐Japan ...

Comparison between liraglutide and dulaglutide on the incidence or progression of eye and kidney complications

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
We conducted the single‐center, retrospective cohort study to evaluate and compare the risk of diabetic eye and kidney complications between newly initiated once‐daily liraglutide (0.9 mg) and once‐weekly dulaglutide (0.75 mg) in 331 Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes.

Real‐world risk factors and clinical implications of early estimated glomerular filtration rate decline after sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitor therapy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Older age, atrial fibrillation, loop diuretic use, and higher eGFR variability predicted early eGFR dip. Continued SGLT2 inhibitor therapy preserved long‐term kidney function, although closer monitoring is warranted in patients receiving loop diuretics. ABSTRACT Aim To assess the prevalence, risk factors, estimated glomerular filtration rate trajectory,

Influence of age on the development of stress hyperglycemia during first‐onset ST‐elevation myocardial infarction

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Among 8,779 non‐diabetic patients with first‐onset STEMI, older age was associated with a higher likelihood of stress hyperglycemia. However, the excess mortality risk associated with stress hyperglycemia was greatest in younger patients and attenuated with advancing age, highlighting the possibility of age‐dependent prognostic significance.

Guideline for the Comprehensive Perioperative Management of Older Patients With Lung Cancer (2025)

open access: yesJournal of Evidence-Based Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT With the accelerating population aging, the number of older adult patients with lung cancer continues to increase. These patients often present with multiple chronic diseases and geriatric syndromes, resulting in more complex perioperative management and significantly increased surgical risks.

Left Ventricular wall Thickness and Decrement Evoked Potentials in Ablation of Ischemic Ventricular Tachycardia

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Preprocedural imaging can improve the success rate of ventricular tachycardia (VT) ablation. Left ventricular wall thickness (LVWT) measured by cardiac computed tomography (CT) can be used to identify infarct regions. We sought to determine whether an association exists between left ventricular wall thickness (LVWT) as obtained ...
