Isopropylation of Acenaphthene

Synthetic Communications, 1991
Abstract Friedel-Crafts alkylation of acenaphthene with 2-bromopropane and aluminum chloride yields mono-, di-, or triisopropylacenaphthenes, depending on the ratio of the reactants. Substituent orientations are discerned by oxidation, which has given 3-isopropyl-, 2,6-diisopropyl-, 3,6-diisopropyl-, and 2,4,6-triisopropyl-1,8-naphthalic anhydrides.

The fungistatic properties of acenaphthene derivatives

Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1951
A group of substituted acenaphthenes and acenaphthenequinones has been prepared and tested, by an agar cup-plate technique, for their fungistatic effect on Tricbopbyton mentagmpbytes. Moderate activity was exhibited by several of the compounds.

Acenaphthene Derivatives and c-Mitosis

Nature, 1962
THE effect of acenaphthene (I, R = H) on plant cells, producing mitotic abnormalities, has been known for many years1,2. It appears to have an effect similar to that of colchicine, but requiring very low concentrations of material. Introduction of substituents into the acenaphthene nucleus may modify the activity.

Lattice Vibrations of Acenaphthene

Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 1974
Lattice vibrations of acenaphthene have been calculated using the rigid-molecule approximation. The spectrum has been completed with two new bands observed at low temperature. The intensity of some of the observed Raman bands has been discussed.

The reaction of acenaphthene with nitrobenzene

Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences, 2002
The reaction of acenaphthene with nitrobenzene was investigated in the presence of AlCl3. The results showed that the reaction proceeded via carboncation-electrophilic substitution reaction and free radical substitution reaction pathway. The products of acenaphthenyl phenylamine and biacenaphthyl could be synthesized by this reaction.

SOME ACENAPHTHENE COMPOUNDS

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1957
A new geometric isomer of 1,2-dichloroacenaphthene has been isolated among the reaction products of acenaphthylene and hypochlorous acid. Some new derivatives of acenaphthenone and acenaphthenol are reported.
