A two‐step shortcut for access to highly soluble, bent, and extended perylene‐based nanographene P1 from a nonperylene aromatic homologation precursor is presented. The modular, stepwise, and rational π‐extension postfunctionalization strategy allows for the tuning of the fluorescent emission properties to reach high quantum yields up to 0.78, giving ...

Micropollutants and Their Interactions With Relevant Environmental Viruses
Environmental micropollutants increase virus stability. ABSTRACT Emerging pollutants encompass a diverse array of chemicals classified as micropollutants, including pharmaceuticals and microplastics (MPs). Viruses are known to adsorb onto MPs, including binding to bacterial biofilms that form the plastisphere.

This study examined how aqueous ash extracts (AEA) from rice straw burning impact R. dybowskii tadpoles, revealing that higher concentrations (up to 6 g L−1) over 28 d reduced survival, impaired growth, and disrupted skin and gut microbiota diversity, with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) detected in water.

A Triptycene‐Based Cage Host for Aromatic Hydrocarbon Guests
A molecular cage consisting of two tripodal triptycene units and three diphenylacetylene linkers includes aromatic guests such as anthracene, acenaphthylene, and pyrene into the cavity. The association constants of the host–guest complexation were determined by the 1H NMR titration.

Abstract During the first two decades of the 21st century, the level of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) pollution in urban atmospheric particulate matter (PM) in China significantly increased. By combining data from more than 6,695 individual samples covering 89 typical cities (population > 0.5 million people) across China, this study focuses on ...

Rapid measurement of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon contamination in soils by visible and near-infrared spectroscopy [PDF]
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are widely distributed organic pollutants. At petroleum contaminated sites, PAHs are often the key risk drivers because of their carcinogenicity. Assessing the risk of PAH at contaminated sites by conventional soil
