Plumeria alba an alternate host for mass multiplication of papaya mealybug parasitoid, Acerophagus papayae

Insect Environment, 2022
The papaya mealybug, Paracoccusmarginatus Williams and Granara de Willink (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) is native to Mexico and Central America. Acerophagus papaya is distributed for control of papaya mealybug in India. The mass multiplication requires potato tubers and regulated environment for the multiplication of papaya mealybug and was ...

Effect of temperature on the biology and fitness traits of papaya mealybug parasitoid Acerophagus papayae

Indian Journal of Entomology, 2018
Effect of temperature on the parasitoid Acerophagus papayae of papaya mealy bug Paracoccus marginatus was studied. The results revealed that its parasitism drastically decreased with increase in temperature. Though parasitism was noticed at all temperatures, there was a strong negative correlation and % parasitism increased from 20 to 32°C. The peak in

Ecological coevolution of parasitoid, Acerophagus papayae noyes and Schauff on papaya mealybug, Paracoccus marginatus Williams and granara de Willink

Journal of Entomological Research, 2017
The adaptive plasticity of parasitoid Acerophagus papayae noyes and Schauff on different host plants using the handling time, recognition time and survival probability of parasitoid via the infestivity of parasitoids using the reciprocal experiment is demonstrated to prove the existence of co-evolutionary arms race between parasitoids and insect pest ...

Understanding changes in farmers' knowledge, attitudes, and practices after releasing Acerophagus papayae (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae), a biocontrol agent for papaya mealybug (Paracoccus marginatus) (hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) in Kenya

Limited adoption of integrated pest management approaches including biological control is associated with lack of knowledge, experience and technical support. One of the main reasons for lack of success of biological control of arthropod pests is cited as the poor involvement of farming communities and extension in dissemination of information.
