Catalytic acetalization of glycerol waste over alkali-treated natural clinoptilolite
One of the most potential byproducts of transesterification that has been produced in a large amount is glycerol. Converting glycerol into Solketal via catalytic acetalization using natural zeolites is an interesting route to improve its economic value ...

Using reactive distillation for upgrading bio-oil from co-pyrolysis of palm kernel shell and palm empty fruit bunches [PDF]
Due to the poor physical properties of raw bio-oil from pyrolysis, in this work reactive distillation was used to upgrade vaporized bio-oil from selected co-pyrolysis of palm kernel shell and palm empty fruit bunches at 75%/25% mixing ratio by using 10%

Tropylium Ion, an Intriguing Moiety in Organic Chemistry
The tropylium ion is a non-benzenoid aromatic species that works as a catalyst. This chemical entity brings about a large number of organic transformations, such as hydroboration reactions, ring contraction, the trapping of enolates, oxidative ...

Acetate Metabolism and the Inhibition of Bacterial Growth by Acetate [PDF]
High concentrations of organic acids such as acetate inhibit growth of Escherichia coli and other bacteria. This phenomenon is of interest for understanding bacterial physiology but is also of practical relevance. Growth inhibition by organic acids underlies food preservation and causes problems during high-density ...

Novel plasmalogalactosylalkylglycerol from equine brain
A novel galactosylalkylglycerol modified with a long-chain cyclic acetal at the sugar moiety, 3-O-(4′6′-plasmalogalactosyl) 1-O-alkylglycerol, was isolated from equine brain.

Thermally Assisted Photocatalytic Dehydrogenation of Methanol in Continuous Steady‐State Operation
Thermally assisted photocatalytic methanol dehydrogenation on Pt/TiO2 enables formaldehyde and hydrogen production far beyond thermodynamic limits. Continuous operation delivers up to 95% selectivity over 70 h, and oxygen microdosing strongly boosts conversion by regenerating surface oxygen sites.

Synthesis of Solketal Fuel Additive From Acetone and Glycerol Using CO2 as Switchable Catalyst
The production of solketal fuel additive was studied from the reaction of glycerol and acetone in the presence of pressurized CO2 as switchable catalyst. A design of experiments (DoE) was used to study the significance of temperature, initial pressure of

Convergent Total Synthesis of 16β‐Hydroxylpseudobufarenogin
We present a novel convergent strategy that integrates Pd/Ag‐promoted Suzuki–Miyaura coupling with Ir‐catalyzed radical‐relay cyclization, enabling the first total synthesis of 16β‐hydroxylpseudobufarenogin. This approach is broadly applicable to the total synthesis of various oxygenated bufadienolides by simply modifying the fragment structures ...

Stereochemical structures of synthesized and natural plasmalogalactosylceramides from equine brain
Modified galactosylceramide with a long-chain cyclic acetal at the sugar moiety, plasmalogalactosylceramide, was isolated from equine brain. To identify the isomeric stereostructure of the natural product, the plasmalo derivative was chemically ...
