Microscale 3D Printed Pillars and Porous Polymeric Structures: Manufacturability and Micromechanics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates how two‐photon polymerization enables the fabrication of microscale solid and porous structures from IP‐Q, IP‐S, and IP‐PDMS resins. Combining morphological and mechanical characterization, the study provides the first systematic insights into IP‐Q mechanics and reveals how processing parameters affect structure and stiffness ...

Unlocking the Power of Quercetin‐Encapsulated Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles: A Multifunctional Approach to Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNs) are investigated for bone regeneration given their remarkable structural and functional properties. MBGNs are functionalized with Mn and Cu and incorporated with quercetin, a natural flavonoid exhibiting antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.

Asymmetric Catalysis via Cyclic, Aliphatic Oxocarbenium Ions

open access: yes, 2017
A direct enantioselective synthesis of substituted oxygen heterocycles from lactol acetates and enolsilanes has been realized using a highly reactive and confined imidodiphosphorimidate (IDPi) catalyst.

Surface Modification of Fluorine‐Free Superhydrophobic Materials with (Ultra‐)Thin TiO2 Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Significant changes in wettability, with a reduction of 60o in the water conduct angle, are reported via the surface modification of fluorine‐free superhydrophobic thin films, prepared by aerosol‐assisted chemical vapor deposition, after coating a 4 nm layer of titanium dioxide on the surface using atomic layer deposition.

Structures of ceramide tetrasaccharides from various sources: uniqueness of rat kidney ceramide tetrasaccharide

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1972
Methylation analysis of ceramide tetrasaccharide isolated from human erythrocytes gave acetates of 2,3,6-tri-O-methylgalactitol and 2,4,6-tri-O-methylgalactitol in a ratio of 1 : 1, and about 50% of the galactose was oxidized by periodate.

Adjustment of Coatings Morphology and Particle Distribution of Layered Silicates by Freeze‐Drying for Improved Gas Barriers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...
