Synthesis and Biological activity of 4-(4,6-Disubstituted-pyrimidin-2-yloxy)phenoxy Acetates

open access: yesMolecules, 2010
Ten novel 4-(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yloxy)phenoxy acetates and 4-(4,6-dimethylpyrimidin-2-yloxy)phenoxy acetates were synthesized with hydroquinone, 2-methylsulfonyl-4,6-disubstituted-pyrimidine and chloroacetic ester as starting materials.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Electrochemical vicinal oxyazidation of α-arylvinyl acetates

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2022
α-Azidoketones are valuable and versatile building blocks in the synthesis of various bioactive small molecules. Herein, we describe an environmentally friendly and efficient electrochemical vicinal oxyazidation protocol of α-arylvinyl acetates to afford

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Thermal Analysis, Phase and Morphological TransformationS in the Composites Aluminosilicate Nanotubes/Acetates of Ni, Cu, Zn

open access: yesХімія, фізика та технологія поверхні, 2014
The thermal stability and solid-phase reactions in composites halloysite nanotubes – acetates of Ni, Cu, Zn in the temperature range from 20 to 1100°C have been investigated. It has been shown that chemical reactions occur with metal oxides formed due to

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Sisal cellulose acetates obtained from heterogeneous reactions

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2008
In the present work, cellulose obtained from sisal, which is a source of rapid growth, was used. Cellulose acetates were produced in heterogeneous medium, using acetic anhydride as esterifying agent and iodine as catalyst, to check if the procedure ...

Ubiquitination of secretory granules promotes their crinophagic degradation in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ubiquitination of secretory granules in Drosophila larval salivary glands is a critical molecular trigger for crinophagy, the lysosomal degradation of unreleased, or low‐quality granules. The E3 ubiquitin ligase Cnot4 is recruited to the surface of secretory granules to induce crinophagy.
