Controlled Aggregation of Pyrene‐Based Supramolecular Nanostructures for Light‐Driven Switchable H2 or H2O2 Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work reports the self‐assembly of a pyrene derivative into two distinct nanostructures and their application in visible‐light photocatalysis. The two nanostructures exhibit completely different yet complementary photocatalytic activities, promoting either H2 or H2O2 evolution.

Diamond growth in premixed propylene-oxygen flames [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Diamond film growth in low-pressure premixed propylene/oxygen flames is demonstrated. Well-faceted films are grown at a pressure of 180 Torr and a fuel/oxygen ratio of 0.47. Using propylene as the fuel may greatly improve the economics of flame synthesis

Acetylene-Accelerated Alcohol Catalytic CVD Growth of Vertically Aligned Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
Addition of only 1% of acetylene into ethanol was found to enhance the growth rate of singlewalled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) by up to ten times. Since acetylene is a byproduct of the thermal decomposition of ethanol, this suggests an alternative fast reaction pathway to the formation of SWNTs from ethanol via byproducts of decomposition.

Low‐Temperature Exsolution of Cobalt From Perovskite Nanoparticles via Bead Milling for Enhanced Electrocatalytic Oxygen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature requirements and complex synthesis limit the practical use of perovskite‐based metal exsolution catalysts. This study addresses these limitations by employing bead milling, enabling efficient metal exsolution at a significantly lower temperature (300 °C) from La0.6Sr0.4CoO3‐δ nanoparticles. Consequently, the catalytic mass activity for

A New Approach toward Transition State Spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2013
Chirped-Pulse millimetre-Wave (CPmmW) rotational spectroscopy provides a new class of information about photolysis transition state(s). Measured intensities in rotational spectra determine species-isomer-vibrational populations, provided that rotational ...

Enhancement of salinity tolerance in wheat through soil applied calcium carbide

open access: yesSoil & Environment, 2009
Calcium carbide (CaC2) has been reported to increase growth and yield of crops under normal soil conditions. This study assessed its capacity to enhance salinity tolerance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.; cv- 1076) under saline conditions.

Gasotransmitters in Modern Medicine: Promises and Challenges in the Use of Porous Crystalline Carriers

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This perspective provides an overview of the growing interest in utilizing various gasotransmitters—small gaseous signaling molecules namely nitric oxide (NO), carbon monoxide (CO), and hydrogen sulfide (H2S)—for several therapeutic applications, with emphasis on the potential use of porous materials as carriers to provide safe and controlled local ...

Developing Cathode Films for Practical All‐Solid‐State Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The development of all‐solid‐state lithium‐sulfur batteries offers higher specific energies and lower costs compared to state‐of‐the‐art Li‐ion batteries. However, a lack of mechanistic understanding hinders advancement. This review analyzes key electrode parameters, evaluates progress in enhancing ion/electron percolation, and addresses ...
