Blood Flow in Rat Gastrocnemius Muscle and Achilles Tendon after Achilles Tenotomy

European Surgical Research, 1998
The effect of Achilles tenotomy on resting blood flow of rat gastrocnemius muscle and Achilles tendon was studied by radioactive microspheres. Tenotomy produced an immediate, marked decrease in both intramuscular and intratendinous blood flow and it remained significantly lowered at both sites till the end of the observation period, i.e., day 18 after ...

Pseudoaneurysm After Ponseti Percutaneous Achilles Tenotomy

Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, 2008
The Ponseti method has become a popular technique to treat idiopathic clubfoot. In most cases, a percutaneous Achilles tenotomy is required to correct residual equinus contracture. Bleeding has been reported as a complication of percutaneous tenotomy.

Percutaneous Achilles Tendon Lengthening Complicated by Inadvertent Tenotomy

Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, 1992

Achilles Tenotomy as an Office Procedure

Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, 2012
Ponseti demonstrated the correction of clubfoot in infants using manipulation followed by the application of well-molded long-leg plaster casts. Percutaneous Achilles tenotomy was recommended to correct residual equinus contracture in approximately 80% of cases.

Comparative analysis of Achilles tendon healing outcomes after open tenotomy versus percutaneous tenotomy: An experimental study in rats

Journal of Orthopaedic Research, 2021
AbstractThere is growing interest in conservative treatment of Achilles tendon rupture. However, the majority of experimental studies of Achilles tendon have been performed by open tenotomy. More appropriate model of conservative treatment of Achilles tendon rupture is required.

A CLINICAL EVALUATION OF SUBCUTANEOUS ACHILLES TENOTOMY AS AN AID IN THE TREATMENT OF INTERMITTENT CLAUDICATION

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1952
It is our considered opinion that this procedure is a valuable aid in the treatment of intermittent claudication. The operation can be carried out in a few minutes with minimal risk and requires no cooperation on the part of the patient except his willingness to receive instructions regarding balance and gait.
