Infection of Acholeplasma laidlawii by MVL51 virus
Virology, 1973The infection of Acholeplasma laidlawii cells by MVL51 virus has been studied, MVL51 is a bullet-shaped virus, about 14 nm wide and 71 nm long. At multiplicities of infection less than 10, virus infected cells continue to grow during virus production, but the cell doubling time is 160 min, rather than the normal 110 min.

Evidence for the bacterial origin of Acholeplasma laidlawii A
Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 1985L-forms from a Corynebacterium were induced in hyperosmolar media and gradually adapted to normal osmolarity over a period of two years. During this adaptation several morphologic L-form variants derived from the L-form cultures and were serologically identified as Acholeplasma laidlawii A.

The differential effect of lysolecithin on mycoplasmas and acholeplasmas
Medical Microbiology and Immunology, 1973The cidal effect of lysolecithin on mycoplasmas and acholeplasmas was studied. Thirty-one mycoplasma strains and species were tested. The growth of all of them was inhibited by 250 μg/ml of lysolecithin and the growth of most by 125 μg/ml. T-mycoplasmas were as sensitive to lysolecithin as the other mycoplasmas tested.

Characterization of some new insect-derived acholeplasmas.
Israel journal of medical sciences, 1987Further analysis of three sterol-nonrequiring Mollicutes (strains PS-1, TAC, and YJS) isolated from gut fluids of insects confirms their similarity to Acholeplasma. They are serologically distinct from acholeplasmas of vertebrates and several other sterol nonrequiring Mollicutes isolated from plant surfaces.
