Detection of mycoplasma contamination in cell cultures and bovine sera

open access: yesVeterinární Medicína, 2005
Contamination of cell cultures and sera used for animal virus propagation with mycoplasmas represents a serious problem, especially in virology. Therefore specific control measures must be used.

Aim. Improving of plant safety functions by strengthening their physiological state and assimilation of nutrients is of particular importance as environmentally sound way of reducing the harmfulness of plant mycoplasmosis.

Alteration of colonial morphology of Acholeplasma laidlawii and Acholeplasma modicum by infection with Mycoplasmatales viruses [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1979
Morphologically aberrant colonies resulted from the infection of Acholeplasma laidlawii with two of its three known viruses and from Acholeplasma modicum cells naturally carrying virus. The patterns of colonial alteration differed between cells infected with the two A. laidlawii viruses.

A witches' broom phytoplasma effector induces stunting by stabilizing a bHLH transcription factor in Ziziphus jujuba plants

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 247, Issue 1, Page 249-264, July 2025.
Summary Phytoplasmas are specialized phloem‐limited bacteria that cause diseases on various crops, resulting in significant agricultural losses. This research focuses on the jujube witches' broom (JWB) phytoplasma and investigates the host‐manipulating activity of the effector SJP39.

Analysis of carbohydrates and glycoconjugates by matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry: An update for 2021–2022

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, Volume 44, Issue 3, Page 213-453, May/June 2025.
Abstract The use of matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry for the analysis of carbohydrates and glycoconjugates is a well‐established technique and this review is the 12th update of the original article published in 1999 and brings coverage of the literature to the end of 2022.

Pyrimidine deoxyribonucleotide metabolism in Acholeplasma laidlawii B-PG9 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1985
Extracts of Acholeplasma laidlawii B-PG9 were examined for the enzymes associated with the interconversion of the pyrimidine deoxyribonucleotides and the biosynthesis of thymidine nucleotides. A. laidlawii B-PG9 possessed deaminases for deoxycytidine and dCMP, pyrophosphatases for dUTP, phosphorylases for thymidine and uridine, and a membrane ...
