Endogenous Isoquinoline Alkaloids Agonists of Acid-Sensing Ion Channel Type 3
Acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) ASIC3 expressed mainly in peripheral sensory neurons play an important role in pain perception and inflammation development. In response to acidic stimuli, they can generate a unique biphasic current. At physiological pH

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Modulation of Neurotransmission by Acid-Sensing Ion Channels
Abstract Interstitial pH fluctuations occur normally in the brain and significantly modulate neuronal functions. Acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs), which serve as neuronal acid chemosensors, play important roles in synaptic plasticity, learning, and memory.

β11-12 linker isomerization governs acid-sensing ion channel desensitization and recovery
Acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) are neuronal sodium-selective channels activated by reductions in extracellular pH. Structures of the three presumptive functional states, high-pH resting, low-pH desensitized, and toxin-stabilized open, have all been ...

TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Divalent cation and chloride ion sites of chicken acid sensing ion channel 1a elucidated by x-ray crystallography. [PDF]
Acid sensing ion channels (ASICs) are proton-gated ion channels that are members of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel superfamily and are expressed throughout central and peripheral nervous systems.

4-Chlorophenylguanidine is an ASIC3 agonist and positive allosteric modulator
Acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) are proton-sensitive sodium channels that open in response to lowered extracellular pH and are expressed in the central and peripheral nervous systems.
