Amine Extraction of Hydroxycarboxylic Acids. 3. Effect of Modifiers on Citric Acid Extraction
Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 1997The extraction equilibrium in the systems aqueous solution of a hydroxycarboxylic acid−solution of trialkylamine in an organic diluent can be largely modified by the nature of the diluent. Binary diluents composed of a neutral paraffinic solvent and an active modifier can be used to adjust the desired equilibrium behavior of a particular system. In the

Solvent extraction behaviour of thiocyanic acid
Talanta, 1968The solvent extraction behaviour of thiocyanic acid with isobutyl methyl ketone and xylene as solvents is described. In the ketone system the thiocyanic acid is solvated in the organic phase to give a complex with a proposed composition of HSCN. 2IBMK. Deviations from ideal behaviour, which can be attributed to variations in the activity coefficient of

The extraction of sulphuric acid by some binary extractants
Hydrometallurgy, 1993Abstract The extraction of sulphuric acid using binary extractants is reported. The binary extractants studied consisted of equimolar mixtures of the organophosphorus acid extractants D2EHPA, PC-88A and Cyanex 302 and the amine-type extractants Alamine 336, Aliquat 336, Adogen 283 and Primene JMT.

The so-called teichoic acids, discovered by Baddiley and associates, can be found in Gram-positive bacteria. This material is one of the components of the bacterial cell wall and its composition varies. The backone of these polymers is either polyribitol or polycerol joined together through phosphodiester bridges.

The acid-extractable pool in mammalian cells is composed of amino acids bound to or complexed with other molecules, possible proteins. It does not appear to consist of free amino acid molecules restrained within the cell by a supposedly impermeable plasma membrane.
