Newly Isolated Acidithiobacillus sp. Ksh From Kashen Copper Ore: Peculiarities of EPS and Colloidal Exopolysaccharide

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
A novel strain of an iron- and sulfur-oxidizing bacterium was isolated from a natural biotope at Kashen copper ore (Martakert Province, Republic of Artsakh). The strain is able to grow and oxidize ferrous ions in the range of pH 1.4–2.6 with optimal pH 2.

Application of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans for recovering metals from electronic waste dust [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The paper discusses metal recovery from metallic wastes by means of pure chemical and biological leaching in an acidic medium. The research tested whether it is possible to remove Cu, Al, Sn and Ag from the dust formed during processing of electronic ...

Corrosion Behavior of Cast Iron in the Presence of Acidithiobacillus Ferrooxidans

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2021
Ferrooxidans bacteria occur widely in acid mine drainage water. This work examined the corrosion behavior of cast iron in the presence of the acidophilic iron-oxidizing bacterium Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans (T.f).

Microbial leaching of marmatite by Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans

open access: yesTransactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China, 2006
The bioleaching of marmatite in shaken flasks was studied. After leaching for 29 days, the leaching ratio of zinc was 91%. Three kinds of bacteria, mixture-based bacteria, 9K-based bacteria and sulfur-based bacteria were used in marmatite leaching, of which the mixture-based bacteria have the best leaching result while the sulfur-based bacteria have ...

Phylogenetic heterogeneity of the species Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2003
Polyphasic genotypic analysis of 25 Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans strains isolated from ores and ore concentrates collected in different regions of the world showed considerable strain heterogeneity. Restriction patterns of the chromosomal DNA of these strains obtained by PFGE were specific for each strain.

Genetic variability in Acidithiobacillus spp. – a working horse of environmental biotechnologies

open access: yesNova Biotechnologica et Chimica, 2018
The genus Acidithiobacillus comprises 7 species of Gram-negative obligatory acidophilic chemolithotrophic bacteria that derive energy mainly from the oxidation of reduced sulphur compounds. Four of the species also catalyse the dissimilatory oxidation of

Bacterial Colonization on the Surface of Copper Sulfide Minerals Probed by Fourier Transform Infrared Micro-Spectroscopy

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
Biofilm formation is a molecular assembly process occurring at interfaces, such as in bioleaching processes. The real time monitoring of the marker bands of amide I/amide II by FTIR microspectroscopy during Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans colonization on ...
