Assessment of Physical Characterization and Cytotoxic Effect of Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride Gel with Gold Nanoparticles on Mesenchymal Stem Cells

International Journal of Drug Delivery Technology
Tooth avulsion presents a major clinical challenge and predictably, 2% Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride (APF) has been used to reduce inflammatory root resorption by converting hydroxyapatite to fluoroapatite, though it may cause tissue irritation.

Effect of topically applied acidulated phosphate fluoride on dental caries

Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology, 1976
Abstract A 4‐year clinical trial was conducted to determine the effect on dental caries incidence of the use of acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF 1.23 %). 1,653 Egyptian schoolchildren aged 8 years started the trial. Dental caries was assessed annually by clinical examinations. 1,027 children completed the study.

Fluoride Uptake and Caries Inhibition from Self-Application of an Acidulated-Phosphate-Fluoride Prophylaxis Paste

Caries Research, 2009
The anti-caries effect of semi-annual self-applications of an acidulated-phosphate-fluoride prophylaxis paste to the teeth of children living in non-fluoridated areas was studied. Analysis of exfoliated deciduous teeth revealed an increase in enamel fluoride concentration of 120 ppm at 5 μm in anterior teeth and 15–35 ppm in posterior teeth after each ...

Surface characteristics of a modified acidulated phosphate fluoride gel with nano‐hydroxyapatite coating applied on bovine enamel subjected to an erosive environment

Microscopy research and technique (Print), 2018
This study evaluated the antierosive effect applying a modified acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF) gel containing nano‐hydroxyapatite (nHAp) on the enamel surface before erosion.

Effects of topically applied stannous fluoride and acidulated phosphate fluoride alone and in combination on dental plaque

Journal of Periodontal Research, 1982
A five‐day study in 48 subjects, conducted in the absence of customary oral hygiene, measured the effects of a single topical application of stannous fluoride or acidulated phosphate fluoride alone or in a 1:1 combination. All fluoride concentrations were 1.25%. At the end of the study no effects on dental plaque and gingivitis were detected.

Induction of apoptosis in rabbit oral mucosa by 1.23% acidulated phosphate fluoride gel

Archives of Toxicology, 2007
Applying of 1.23% acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF) gel to prevent caries in children has become very popular among dental practitioners. When applied to dental surfaces, however, APF often comes into contact with the oral mucosa. Due to the possibility of local toxic effect, we aimed to investigate the effects of APF on rabbit oral mucosa.

Effectiveness of an Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride-Pumice Prophylactic Paste: A Two-Year Report

Journal of Dental Research, 1969
The cariostatic potentiality of an acidulated phosphate fluoride-pumice prophylactic paste was tested on children in grades 5 through 7 in a fluoridated community and in a nonfluoridated community. Measurements of effectiveness were made by one examiner without the use of radiographs; a second examiner made the measurements with and without the use of ...

Effect on Dental Caries of Self-Application of Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride Paste and Gel

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1973
The caries inhibitory effect of self-applied acidulated phosphate fluoride paste and gel was evaluated in a three-year study. Annual examinations revealed significant caries inhibitory effects after two and three years that are attributed to the application of the fluoride gel but not the fluoride paste.
