Antibacterial and Antibiotic‐Enhancing Activity of 3‐Hydroxy‐4‐methoxycinnamic Acid: Experimental Data and In Silico Predictions

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 10, Issue 47, December 15, 2025.
ABSTRACT The growing bacterial resistance, driven by the inappropriate use of antibiotics, poses a global health threat and demands new therapeutic strategies. Natural phenolic compounds, such as 3‐hydroxy‐4‐methoxycinnamic acid (3H4MCA), stand out due to their antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, showing potential in combating resistant pathogens.

Synthesis, Characterization, and Enhanced Antibacterial Properties of Nanocomposites Based on Cu, Ag, and Au Nanoparticles Supported on the Coordination Polymer [Zn2(1,3‐bdc)(Bzim)2]

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 10, Issue 47, December 15, 2025.
Nanocomposites based on Cu, Ag, or Au nanoparticles supported on the coordination polymer [Zn2(1,3‐bdc)(Bzim)2] were successfully synthesized, maintaining high structural stability. These materials demonstrated significantly superior antibacterial activity, reaching up to 16 times the efficacy of amoxicillin.

Vancomycin‐Modified DNA Origami Nanostructures for Targeting Bacterial Pathogens

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 6, Issue 12, December 2025.
Applications of DNA origami nanostructures in pathogen detection and antimicrobial drug delivery require their efficient and robust binding to bacterial cells. Here, the cell wall‐binding glycopeptide antibiotic vancomycin is conjugated to selected staple strands and displayed in multivalent arrangements on the DNA origami surface to facilitate the ...
